Zunächst wird dafür auf die Grundlagen des Kletterns eingegangen, d.h. unter anderem, warum sich das Klettern aus entwicklungspsychologischer Sicht für den Einsatz in Therapien eignet und welche Kletterarten sinnvoll im therapeutischen Kontext eingesetzt werden können. Das Hauptaugenmerk der Arbeit liegt danach auf der allgemeinen unterstützenden Wirkung des Kletterns bei Therapien. Hierfür werden verschiedene Voraussetzungen genannt, die für den Einsatz des Kletterns im therapeutischen Bereich geklärt werden müssen. Es folgt ein beispielhafter Ablauf einer klettergestützten Therapie-Einheit und abschließend werden die Chancen des Kletterns vorgestellt. Hierzu zählt neben der realen Handlungssituation und der Reaktivierung verschiedener Fähigkeiten, die Schulung von Sozialkompetenzen auf Basis einer ressourcenorientierten Herangehensweise. Ferner soll mit Hilfe des Kletterns ein ganzheitlicher Ansatz verfolgt werden, der mit Hilfe der natürlichen Ernsthaftigkeit, die das Klettern von Natur aus mit sich bringt, u.a. Aufmerksamkeit und Konzentration des Kindes bzw. des Jugendlichen fördern kann. Im Anschluss wird der hohe Aufforderungscharakter, den das Klettern aufweist und somit eine große Bereitschaft dem Klettern gegenüber aufgebracht wird, beleuchtet. Am Ende der vorliegenden Arbeit werden Schlüsse aus den verschiedenen Chancen, die das Klettern im Rahmen einer Therapie verhaltensauffälliger Kinder und Jugendlicher ermöglicht, gezogen und weiterführende Handlungsempfehlungen gegeben.
