In 'THE GREAT AMERICAN GUN CONTROL DEBATE (Not!)", Mr. Wuest puts gun control under the microscope. He ferrets out the truth, separating fact from fiction. He presents not a "balanced picture", but scientific objectivity. What is important is not popular opinion, or "conventional wisdom", but the TRUTH. What works and what doesn't? What have we already done, and what should we do or do not? We have had some gun control for as much as a hundred years. Has it done any good? Has it worked to prevent crime? Has gun control become a "free ride"? Or does it cost us dearly? An engineer by profession, Mr. Wuest examines this and more using rigorous testing. Frustrated by the lack of honest debate regarding gun control, Mr. Wuest provides both sides of the arguments. The gun control side is well known; no end of print and air time have been devoted to supporting it. What is the other side, the one we never hear? Is there a downside to gun control? Find out the answers to these and other questions in "THE GREAT AMERICAN GUN CONTROL DEBATE (Not!): . Mr. Wuest provides a breath of fresh air to a stale debate. We have been stuck in a "gun control rut" for so long that it is questionable if the "truth will prevail"? Let us all hope so!

Discussion surrounding America's violence problem often centers on the gun debate, an issue with no acceptable solution for half the population. Author Jay Breitlow, D.C., who lost his father in a school shooting, makes the case that addressing issues completely separate from the gun debate may provide more sustainable answers. Dr. Breitlow takes a comprehensive look at the benefits that supportive home environments and enhanced mental healthcare can have on troubled individuals, and suggests grassroots changes you can make in your home and community to eliminate violence. Community tragedies, such as the one that took Dale Breitlow's life when Jay was in ninth grade, have become shockingly commonplace. Dr. Breitlow is convinced positive change is possible. His vision focuses on creating systems centered on one fundamental emotion: Love.

Armed And Considered Dangerous written by Peter Henry Rossi and has been published by Transaction Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-02-01 with Social Science categories.

Armed and Considered Dangerous is a book about "bad guys" and their guns. But Wright and Rossi contend that for every suspected criminal who owns and abuses a firearm, a hundred or more average citizens own guns for sport, for recreation, for self-protection, and for other reasons generally regarded as appropriate or legitimate. Armed and Considered Dangerous is the most ambitious survey ever undertaken of criminal acquisition, possession, and use of guns. There are vast differences between the average gun owner and the average gun-abusing felon, but the analyses reported here do not suggest any obvious way to translate these differences into gun control policies. Most policy implications drawn from the book are negative in character: this will not work for this reason, that will not work for that reason, and so on. When experts are asked, "Okay, then what will work?" they usually fall back on the old warhorses of poverty, the drug problem, or the inadequate resources of the criminal justice system, and otherwise have little to say. This is not a failure of social science. It simply asks more of the data than the data were ever intended to provide. Several of Wright and Rossi's findings have become "coin of the realm" in the gun control debate, cited frequently by persons who have long since forgotten where the data came from or what their limitations are. Several other findings, including many that are important, have been largely ignored. Still other findings have been superseded by better and more recent data or rendered anachronistic by intervening events. With the inclusion of a new introduction detailing recent statistics and updated information this new edition of Armed and Considered Dangerous is a rich source of information for all interested in learning about weapon behavior and ownership in America.

Control written by Glenn Beck and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-30 with Political Science categories.

#1 bestselling author and popular radio and television host Glenn Beck shines a spotlight on today’s culture of violence and provides practical, timely, and fact-based answers to the most commonly heard gun-control arguments. When our founding fathers secured the Constitutional “right of the people to keep and bear arms,” they also added the admonition that this right SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. It is the only time this phrase appears in the Bill of Rights. So why aren’t more people listening? History has proven that guns are essential to self-defense and liberty—but tragedy is a powerful force and has led many to believe that guns are the enemy, that the Second Amendment is outdated, and that more restrictions or outright bans on firearms will somehow solve everything. They are wrong. In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. In doing so, he takes on and debunks the common myths and outright lies that are often used to vilify guns and demean their owners: The Second Amendment is ABOUT MUSKETS . . . GUN CONTROL WORKS in other countries . . . 40 percent of all guns are sold without BACKGROUND CHECKS . . . More GUNS MEAN more MURDER . . . Mass shootings are becoming more common . . . These awful MASSACRES ARE UNIQUE TO AMERICA . . . No CIVILIAN needs a “weapon of war” like the AR-15 . . . ARMED GUARDS in schools do nothing, just look at Columbine . . . Stop FEARMONGERING, no one is talking about TAKING YOUR GUNS AWAY. Backed by hundreds of sources, this handbook gives everyone who cares about the Second Amendment the indisputable facts they need to reclaim the debate, defeat the fear, and take back their natural rights.

The Way Of The Gun written by Iain Overton and has been published by HarperCollins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-22 with Social Science categories.

In this gripping tour de force of investigative reporting, an award-winning journalist travels through America and beyond to understand the brutal reality—and consequences—of a world in which twelve billion bullets are produced every year for almost a billion guns. According to the United States Bureau of Justice, more than 4.5 million Americans became victims of gun crime between 2004 and 2013. With the highest global rate of gun ownership and gun imports and exports—not to mention the controversial Second Amendment—America is justifiably the focus of a growing gun debate. But the five hundred thousand people around the world killed by guns every year suggest that it is far from the only nation in the cultural, political, economic, and lethal grip of the gun. Over a hundred countries have their own firearm industries, and twenty nations recently saw children carrying guns into conflicts. The Way of the Gun is a shocking, eye-opening exposé of the global gun ecosystem and its long-reaching impact. Traveling to America, the Middle East, South America, Africa, and Asia, veteran journalist Iain Overton meets murderers and law enforcement marksmen, gun fetishists and weapons smugglers, gun manufacturers and grieving relatives of victims. He unearths the sobering scale of the international gun economy, explaining the relationships between its legal and illegal players, and powerfully portrays its effects on health care, religion, law enforcement, politics, and, most of all, individuals. Driven by firsthand research and objective reporting, The Way of the Gun is not a polemic. Overton, who works for the international nonprofit Action on Armed Violence but also hunts and once ran a gun club, eschews heated rhetoric for a compelling factual narrative that puts America’s unique relationship with guns into an international context—providing a sobering perspective on the arguments dividing our nation and, increasingly, the world. Shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association Dagger Award for Nonfiction Praise For The Way Of The Gun “Every page is packed with emotional power and startling statistics. . . . A passionate mix of rhetoric and travelogue, Overton’s book takes the gun debate into impressive new territory.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “Adventurous, ambitiously tracing the often devastating impact of guns around the world. . . . Punctuated with thoughtful discussions on issues from the Second Amendment to the US Constitution to women’s attitudes toward guns . . . contains moments of great poignancy.”—Financial Times “Riveting . . . poignant. . . . This book is more than just facts, it’s insight and revelation on a very human level.”—Independent “Shocking. . . . Overton has supped full of horrors and is not reticent about sharing them.”—Newsweek “Gripping reportage that’s as disturbing as it is enlightening . . . without—crucially—lapsing into an antigun diatribe.”—GQ Magazine

The Gunning Of America written by Pamela Haag and has been published by Basic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-19 with History categories.

Americans have always loved guns. This special bond was forged during the American Revolution and sanctified by the Second Amendment. It is because of this exceptional relationship that American civilians are more heavily armed than the citizens of any other nation. Or so we’re told. In The Gunning of America, historian Pamela Haag overturns this conventional wisdom. American gun culture, she argues, developed not because the gun was exceptional, but precisely because it was not: guns proliferated in America because throughout most of the nation’s history, they were perceived as an unexceptional commodity, no different than buttons or typewriters. Focusing on the history of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, one of the most iconic arms manufacturers in America, Haag challenges many basic assumptions of how and when America became a gun culture. Under the leadership of Oliver Winchester and his heirs, the company used aggressive, sometimes ingenious sales and marketing techniques to create new markets for their product. Guns have never “sold themselves”; rather, through advertising and innovative distribution campaigns, the gun industry did. Through the meticulous examination of gun industry archives, Haag challenges the myth of a primal bond between Americans and their firearms. Over the course of its 150 year history, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company sold over 8 million guns. But Oliver Winchester—a shirtmaker in his previous career—had no apparent qualms about a life spent arming America. His daughter-in-law Sarah Winchester was a different story. Legend holds that Sarah was haunted by what she considered a vast blood fortune, and became convinced that the ghosts of rifle victims were haunting her. She channeled much of her inheritance, and her conflicted conscience, into a monstrous estate now known as the Winchester Mystery House, where she sought refuge from this ever-expanding army of phantoms. In this provocative and deeply-researched work of narrative history, Haag fundamentally revises the history of arms in America, and in so doing explodes the clichés that have created and sustained our lethal gun culture.
