Catalytic Reactors presents several key aspects of reactor design in Chemical and Process Engineering. Starting with the fundamental science across a broad interdisciplinary field, this graduate level textbook offers a concise overview on reactor and process design for students, scientists and practitioners new to the field. This book aims to collate into a comprehensive and well-informed work of leading researchers from north America, western Europe and south-east Asia. The editor and international experts discuss state-of-the-art applications of multifunctional reactors, biocatalytic membrane reactors, micro-flow reactors, industrial catalytic reactors, micro trickle bed reactors and multiphase catalytic reactors. The use of catalytic reactor technology is essential for the economic viability of the chemical manufacturing industry. The importance of Chemical and Process Engineering and efficient design of reactors are another focus of the book. Especially the combination of advantages from both catalysis and chemical reaction technology for optimization and intensification as essential factors in the future development of reactors and processes are discussed. Furthermore, options that can drastically influence reaction processes, e.g. choice of catalysts, alternative reaction pathways, mass and heat transfer effects, flow regimes and inherent design of catalytic reactors are reviewed in detail. Focuses on the state-of-the-art applications of catalytic reactors and optimization in the design and operation of industrial catalytic reactors Insights into transfer of knowledge from laboratory science to industry For students and researchers in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Catalysis and practising Engineers

Transport Phenomena For Chemical Reactor Design written by Laurence A. Belfiore and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-07-04 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Laurence Belfiore’s unique treatment meshes two mainstreamsubject areas in chemical engineering: transport phenomena andchemical reactor design. Expressly intended as an extension ofBird, Stewart, and Lightfoot’s classic Transport Phenomena, and Froment and Bischoff’s Chemical Reactor Analysis andDesign, Second Edition, Belfiore’s unprecedented textexplores the synthesis of these two disciplines in a manner theupper undergraduate or graduate reader can readily grasp. Transport Phenomena for Chemical Reactor Designapproaches the design of chemical reactors from microscopic heatand mass transfer principles. It includes simultaneousconsideration of kinetics and heat transfer, both critical to theperformance of real chemical reactors. Complementary topics intransport phenomena and thermodynamics that provide support forchemical reactor analysis are covered, including: Fluid dynamics in the creeping and potential flow regimesaround solid spheres and gas bubbles The corresponding mass transfer problems that employ velocityprofiles, derived in the book’s fluid dynamics chapter, tocalculate interphase heat and mass transfer coefficients Heat capacities of ideal gases via statistical thermodynamicsto calculate Prandtl numbers Thermodynamic stability criteria for homogeneous mixtures thatreveal that binary molecular diffusion coefficients must bepositive In addition to its comprehensive treatment, the text alsocontains 484 problems and ninety-six detailed solutions to assistin the exploration of the subject. Graduate and advancedundergraduate chemical engineering students, professors, andresearchers will appreciate the vision, innovation, and practicalapplication of Laurence Belfiore’s Transport Phenomenafor Chemical Reactor Design.

Mass Transfer With Chemical Reaction In Multiphase Systems Three Phase Systems written by Erdoğan Alper and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1983 with Science categories.
The phenomenon of "mass transfer with chemical reaction" takes place whenever one phase is brought into contact with one or more other phases not in chemical equilibrium with it. This phenomenon has industrial, biological and physiological importance. In chemical process engineering, it is encountered in both separ ation processes and reaction engineering. In some cases, a chemical reaction may deliberately be employed for speeding up the rate of mass transfer and/or for increasing the capacity of the solvent; in other cases the multiphase reaction system is a part of the process with the specific aim of product formation. Finally, in some cases, for instance "distillation with chemical reaction," both objectives are involved. Although the subject is clearly a chemical engineering undertakin, it requires often a good understanding of other subjects, such as chemistry and fluid mechanics etc., leading to publications in diversified areas. On the other har.d, the subject has always been a major field and one of the most fruitful for chemical engineers."

Structured Catalysts And Reactors written by Andrzej Cybulski and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-11-02 with Science categories.
Interest in structured catalysts is steadily increasing due to the already proven, as well as potential, advantages of these catalysts. Updating the comprehensive coverage of the first edition published in 1998 with the latest science and applications, Structured Catalysts and Reactors, Second Edition gives detailed information on all aspects of structured catalysts and reactors, including: materials, mass transfer, selectivity, activity, and stability; catalyst preparation, design, and characterization; process development; modeling and optimization; reactor design; and operation costs and considerations. The book first examines how monolithic catalysts are used to clean exhaust gas from gasoline engines, treat industrial off-gases, burn fuels in commercial settings, and synthesize chemicals in two- and three-phase processes. It discusses configurations, microstructure, physical properties, and manufacture of ceramic and metallic monoliths before directing its focus to arranged catalysts and structured packings in terms of mass transfer. The book then explores catalytically active membranes and filters, featuring metallic membranes, permeation mechanisms, preparation and modeling, commercial membranes, and the latest applications, such as zeolitic membranes. Finally, several chapters present techniques for incorporating catalytic species into the structured catalyst support and controlling catalyst nanoporosity. This book conveys the scientific as well as economic advantages of using these unconventional catalytic techniques. With over 1500 references, tables, drawings, and photographs, as well as in-depth discussions and a new approach to catalytic processes, Structured Catalysts and Reactors, Second Edition is an essential reference for anyone working with or studying catalysis.
