Sandy Cooper lives an uneventful life as a guidance counselor and coach in a suburban junior high school. Uneventful, that is, until a word of advice to a troubled student embroils him in a forbidden relationship and the exposure of a twisted murder. In this compulsively readable novel reminiscent of Philip Roth’s American Pastoral, Michael Oren evokes a time of racial, political, and social turmoil in the 1970s.

Have you ever questioned the teachings of the church? Do they make sense to you? When there are teachings you don't understand, have you ever been told, "Just take it on faith, brother?" I have! This was not acceptable to me. If God wants us to know him and his son, Jesus Christ, and the Word of God is his communication to us, then we as individuals should be able to study his Word and understand it. However, I believe that we are in the unfortunate time for the church in which the prophecy of the Apostle Paul has come to its fulfillment: For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4) This book presents many of the questions I had in my quest for truth. It addresses some of the most egregious doctrines that lead people away from understanding God's plan and how they are to fi t into it. In order to effectively seek God, you must ask questions. Why? Mainly because it is just as easy to believe a lie as it is the truth. Remember John 4:23-24: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

After reading this book, it becomes obvious why my sister would make her life "bare" to the world. It is recommendable that she would "chart" her life for all to see, so perhaps other readers with similar situations could also see a way out of their "dark places" and be guided into light, regaining their love, trust and hope." - Merlyn Roach. "An honest account of love gained, love lost and self-renewal. I recommend this book to the young and old. It will assist marriage counselors, pastors, those who are married as well as individuals contemplating marriage. The ending will surprise everyone. The writer demonstrates what David expressed, "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth." -(Psalm 145: 18 AMP) - Dr. Wesley A. Plummer. "It is as if your entire life involved God allowing you to go through this because He could trust you being able to tell this story. Thank You! Thank You! It's not just for women but also for men to hear the kind of grief we cause by some of our actions." - Conrad Ruben

Quiet Time Poems written by David Edwin Hall and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-06 with Religion categories.

Every day, there are treasures to be discovered by anyone who will honestly come to hear the voice of the Savior in his Word. The Lord Jesus indicates that there is an added blessing for those who will write down the insights he gives by his instruction: Every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old (Matthew 13:52). The poems in this book are the result of going to the Bible each day with an expectation that God has something very valuable to say. That expectation has NEVER been disappointed. Our risen Lord said, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). This intimate, two-way communion with God is offered to all those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:12) and thereby have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God (1 Corinthians 2:12). My prayer is that God may use this book for his glory, for the encouragement of his own children, and for the persuasion of those who may yet be awakened to their need of our Savior. Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the post of My doors (Proverbs 8:34). Heaven is waiting. Dont miss it for the world.

After Doubt written by A. J. Swoboda and has been published by Brazos Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-02 with Religion categories.

Is there a way to walk faithfully through doubt and come out the other side with a deeper love for Jesus, the church, and its tradition? Can we question our faith without losing it? Award-winning author, pastor, and professor A. J. Swoboda has witnessed many young people wrestle with their core Christian beliefs. Too often, what begins as a set of critical and important questions turns to resentment and faith abandonment. Unfortunately, the church has largely ignored its task of serving people along their journey of questioning. The local church must walk alongside those who are deconstructing their faith and show them how to reconstruct it. Drawing on his own experience of deconstruction, Swoboda offers tools to help emerging adults navigate their faith in a hostile landscape. Doubt is a part of our natural spiritual journey, says Swoboda, and deconstruction is a legitimate space to encounter the living God. After Doubt offers a hopeful, practical vision of spiritual formation for those in the process of faith deconstruction and those who serve them. Foreword by pastor and author John Mark Comer.
