Strong, reliable and known for his ability to work in pinpoint crosses from the left, Kenny was a firm fixture in the cup-winning Arsenal and England defences for most of the 1980s. He won a record-breaking 86 international caps and featured in many of the most exciting England matches of the era. Among many insights from old team-mates and respected managers, Kenny reveals the truth about Maradona's controversial 'Hand of God' goal. Throughout it all, Kenny's positive attitude never came into question. He was never booked, let alone sent off. But off the pitch, the addictive side of his personality threatened to destroy not only his career but his rock-solid family life too. Fans were kept in the dark by protective manager George Graham, but it was the two women in Kenny's life who saved him - his devoted mother and the wife he'd met during his school days. Kenny has found the strength to fight back from the brink and defeat the demons of drink and gambling. For the first time, he reveals the story of a man at the peak of professional achievement, yet dangerously close to losing it all. Kenny Sansom considers himself a lucky man. But he also knows he's pushed that luck, and is fortunate to have survived. As a footballer he soared to great heights - but as an individual he also sank to life-threatening lows. The fans in the Highbury terraces may have sung his name but no-one ever really knew the whole truth about the football icon.

To Cap It All is part of a series of three Artists’ Books that represent three stages of an artistic journey in the years 1995-2006 exploring the dialectic of mark, word and image. A recurrent theme in each is that of surprise. To Cap It All relates an equally unexpected change in the following year moving into Conceptual Sculpture. In prints like Value, works in the period 1997-99 examined the toxic processes of estrangement and fetishism in bourgeois culture, the aestheticisation of the commodity-form, the historical place of Duchamp’s Readymades - and the equivocal role of the avante-garde in Modernism. The three books show how working through these stages in visual art was a condition for the spacial writing and reading of both sound and silence in my it to you (2013), The Book of It (2010) as well as In The Face of It (2013).

It S All News To Me written by Jeremy Vine and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-07 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Jeremy Vine is one of the most successful broadcasters of recent years and in 2012 clocks up a quarter of a century at the BBC. In It's All News to Me, he takes a look back over his career from the very first day when he arrived at broadcasting house, (by coincidence an inauspicious news day - the fateful Black Monday of 1987.) Jeremy explains his big break as a Today programme reporter when he was fired at by a sniper during the early days of the war in Bosnia; he walks us through the corridors of Westminster in the 1990s when he was a political correspondent, trying to deal with the likes of Alastair Campbell and Peter Mandelson; he reflects on the steep learning curve that was his posting as African correspondent at the turn of the millennium; and his return to the UK where he was dubbed Paxman's "mini-me" on Newsnight. He also explains what it's like presenting Radio 2's lunchtime show and talking to 6 million listeners - people who, as he puts it "have better stories than we do." Written in Jeremy's unmistakably lively and self-deprecating voice, It's All News to Mepaints a vivid picture of what it's like to be trapped inside the BBC - arguably the most interesting organisation in the country - for 25 years. It's also about our obsession with news - just exactly how and why it happens - and the power of real life stories versus the media's desire to shape them.

It S All Part Of The Game written by John Clegg and has been published by Grosvenor House Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-17 with Antiques & Collectibles categories.

The book describes how a character, starting with virtually no money and absolutely no knowledge of antiques, managed to learn and bit by bit, claw his way up the trade echelon to finally run a massive antique shop on the Welsh Marches. The tale includes door knocking escapades, the odd romantic dalliance, chanced successes, embarrassing failures, the antique ring, local gypsies, the Irish travellers, a court case and even a house clearance in Australia. It is related by a contemporary author, who having chanced on a character with first hand experience of those exciting times, uses the information, plus contacts he provides, to delve back in time, thus revealing the inside story of the antique business, over a period, roughly spanning 1974-2004. All is described with a humorous touch and even though fiction, events are true to the spirit of those times. Interspersed in the story, are little nuggets of local history, anecdotes of an almost Bohemian nature and when able to contact survivors from those years, light hearted banter. An insight is given regarding the difficulty of finding the right stock and how surprisingly narrow, some of the profit margins. Reasons are given, as to why certain things sold, plus how the vast majority that didn't, could potentially clog a business to a standstill. The book describes years of plenty and years of near bankruptcy, while on each rung of the trade ladder, pitfalls and certain individuals intent on blocking an aspiring dealer's progress, awaited. Whether humour or near tragedy, however, both are told in the same matter of fact manner.

Ralph Milne was born in Dundee and lived out many a young footballer's dream. On leaving school he signed for Dundee United and gradually forced his way into a team full of great players. With electrifying pace and exceptional talent he quickly established himself as a fans' favourite, producing some dazzling performances at home and on the highest of European stages. He was part of the legendary team which defied all the odds to win the Scottish Premier Division in 1983. However, behind the scenes his volatile relationship with manager Jim McLean culminated in him leaving for Charlton. After unhappy spells there and at Bristol City he made a dream move to Alex Ferguson's Man United. Ralph struggled to produce his stunning performances of old and retired a few years later. Many believe he could and should have done so much more but a personal battle with alcohol probably decided otherwise. In the eyes of Dundee United fans he will always be a legend and was inducted into the club's Hall Of Fame earlier this year. This is his remarkable story.
