A disgraced young woman with nothing to lose. A handsome, newly appointed duke, bound by his honour. Her one opportunity to steal his heart. Disowned by her parents for helping her sister elope to the Americas, Grace Curtis never expected to capture the attention of the witty and bold George Blackmore, the Duke of Cromford. After the sudden death of his father leaves him with the responsibilities of his elevated station, he has little time for romance... not even with the beautiful Grace. When Cromford's younger brother, Edmund, takes an interest in her best friend, Grace encourages the relationship, in the hope of seeing the duke again - and stealing his heart. However, Edmund divulges some unexpectedly worrying truths about his older brother, and Grace soon finds herself questioning her attraction to the newly appointed Duke of Cromford. As she finds herself embroiled in a bitter war between two brothers, Grace must choose carefully where to place her trust. Will she be able to fathom the duke's true colours and find happiness? A tale of love, duty, mistaken assumptions, drama and intrigue, set against the glittering backdrop of Regency England. "To Steal a Duke's Heart" is a traditional, clean Regency romance that will keep you reading deep into the night. Clean Regency Romance Novel. No Cliffhanger.

It was only supposed to be one night. Calliope Murphy was determined to prove to her family that she was as capable as the rest of them. That she could master a priceless painting to steal from a duke who is far too arrogant and pompous for his own good. But when Calli is discovered and mistaken for the new governess, one night of deceit becomes a much longer game -- one that Calli is not sure she can win. Jonathan Saville, the Duke of Hargreave, should be able to attain anything he desires. His fortune is as large as his entailed lands, and his title is enough to cause young women to overlook his surliness and vie for the role of his bride. But Jonathan learned long ago never to trust, and never to let anyone in too close -- most especially not his overeager niece and nephew, nor the far-too-tempting new governess. Posing as the governess to the Duke of Hargreave, Calli relishes the opportunity to spend as much time as she can with the painting she must perfect. But the more time she takes, the closer she becomes to the children -- and the duke himself, as she discovers that there is more to him than he allows most people to see. As they draw closer, she realizes she can never betray him. Betraying him, however, is the only option her brother allows her to choose. When the deception is complete, Calli isn't sure what all will be stolen -- the painting, the duke's trust, or, most at risk, her heart. For readers 18+ due to some steamy scenes.

She didn't steal. She simply took what was rightfully hers-including his heart. Charles, Duke of Hasterton, admired and respected for his cunning business acumen both at home and abroad has an astounding secret. He is imaginary. But his brilliant twin sister Cecilia is quite real. She was born in Germany after her father died and taught to guard the title, wealth, and power like the rare stolen treasure that it is. After all, as a daughter, she could never inherit the dukedom legally. Cecilia and her mother cultivate the ruse of the fictional duke quite nicely. Everybody who is anybody in London believes His Grace resides with them at their stunning residence in Germany. Their acquaintances in Germany believe the pretend peer is always in London or traveling the world over. But when Cecilia's mother falls victim to a grave illness and begs to visit her beloved London one last time, even though it's risky, Cecilia can't refuse her. But her mother can't travel alone, and Cecilia refuses to entertain superficial men pining for nothing more than her dowry. So, she poses as her mother's companion to ensure their elaborate farce remains safe. While everyone is told Lady Cecilia remained in Germany because of frail health, Miss Celia Bening, companion to the dowager duchess, enjoys the freedom to handle whatever arises-or at least, she tries. Lord Elias Raines might be the second son of a duke and the youngest solicitor in his law office, but he's proven himself so capable and talented that when his mentor dies, he's promoted to partner and assigned to the rich, influential clients cared for by the man who taught him everything he knows. Well, almost everything. His dearly departed advisor failed to mention some of the peculiarities in the Duke of Hasterton's file. Elias's requests for the duke to review the oddities have, so far, gone unanswered. Luckily enough, he discovers the duke's mother is in London. While decorum demands he wait for answers from the duke, he can't refrain from digging deeper when the dowager duchess requests he draw up her will with a suspiciously generous endowment for her companion, the lovely Miss Cecilia, an intriguing woman who drives him mad with desire. Delightful, passionate, and at times heartbreaking, a merry chase is had by all until a lifetime of secrets explodes. Elias must make a choice-help Cecilia devise a plan to protect the world she and her mother so carefully crafted or end their illegal scheme and escort them both to the prison. Only one can win: his profession or his heart-until a third option too terrible to imagine rears its ugly head and makes the choice for them both. Can she convince the duke a woman has a brain? Lady Joanna Mabry has many flaws, one is her penchant for stealing books from her peers' homes. Since she returns them, usually to the same house, she feels it's a harmless flaw until she's almost caught by James Huntington, the Duke of Northwick. His outspoken views on a proper woman's education have left her bristling. So in this case, she's pleased to have taken his book on what is sure to be an antiquated view of the female species. James dismisses Lady Joanna's odd behavior until he discovers his book on "feminine education" is missing. Guessing she has it, he's highly amused since the cover concealed the real title, The Illustrated Pleasures of Seduction. He soon finds himself putting off his proposal to another woman as he attempts to trap Joanna into revealing her theft. He enjoys countering her energetic arguments for women's equal education, while he insinuates that what women should be most concerned with is the bedroom. Before long, the pictures in Northwick's book, his quiet hints, and his tantalizing touches begin to leave Joanna breathless. Worse, their debates bring her to a state of excitement she's known with no other. How can such a closed-minded man be so tempting? But with a spurned woman lurking in the background, Joanna must make the decision whether to let the duke wallow in a bed of his own making, or acknowledge the feelings that have grown between them...neither of which she's willing to do. She returned to England to put him in his place-not to put herself in his bed. Alec Douglas, Duke of Lionwraith, a war hero betrayed on the home front while he was away at battle, trusts no one and prefers his solitude. But when his sister begs for help because she is ruined, he vows to make the man responsible pay. When the vile rakehell proves impossible to find, Alec isn't swayed. He can just as easily destroy his enemy with a subtler attack. The Marquess of Ardsmere's business provides the best wines and rarest imports to the finest houses in all the realm-but by the time Alec is finished, West Belgium International will cease to exist. But the despicable marquess can't be the ruination of Alec's sister, because the man does not exist. However, Lady Francis, better known as Frannie and sometimes as the Marchioness of Ardsmere, is quite real. Born in Belgium after a terrible accident killed her father, Frannie was introduced to the world as the family's ward rather than an Ardsmere daughter, and a fake Ardsmere son was fabricated for her to marry to keep the wealth, lands, and privileges of the title away from a heartless cousin. The ruse has served quite well, but now some quarrelsome duke threatens everything because his lightskirt sister tossed her reputation to the wind and ridiculously named the pretend marquess responsible. Frannie is not about to lose her lucrative empire or expose herself as a fraud. There's naught to be done but assume her usual role as the imaginary marquess's wife and put the deplorable duke in his place. However, when she meets Alec's sweet, trusting sister, she can't bring herself to finish the poor girl off or take down her handsome brother. Cursing her soft-heartedness, Frannie agrees to help Alec. Not just because he's a tempting challenge she can't resist, but also because his sister is kindness itself. While tracking down the real foe responsible, Alec and Frannie come together in a complicated dance that not only risks riches and reputations but also their hearts. Frannie's life of lies has always provided everything she needs-except love. What's she to do when the man who steals her heart despises anything that isn't true? What do a skillful liar and a man drowning in bitterness have in common? Loneliness and pent-up passion. An exciting combination until secrets are revealed and everything falls apart. In the first quarter of the thirteenth century, an anonymous Flemish writer set in writing, in Old French, a chronicle of Normandy, England, Flanders and northern France. It ranged from the arrival of the Vikings in Normandy to the early years of the reign of King Henry III of England, ending with an account of the translation of the relics of St Thomas Becket to their magnificent new shrine in Canterbury Cathedral in 1220. Along the way, it adopted and formed part of a tradition of writing of the history of the dukes of Normandy and kings of England, a tradition which had developed in Latin in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and then continued in Old French. The work is famous for vibrant and informed description of the reign of King John, in particular the period of baronial reaction, Magna Carta, ensuing civil war and the nearly-successful invasion of England by Louis, heir to the kingdom of France. Flanders supplied troops to both sides, and this Flemish author sees these events in close detail, and from the Flemish, not the French or English, point of view. He may himself have been an eyewitness, directly involved, but if not he would have known many who had fought and died in this conflict. Janet Shirley’s translation of this chronicle, the first into English, brings the work of the Anonymous of Béthune to a new audience in this volume, accompanied by an introduction and historical notes by Paul Webster.
