Kun valmennettava huomaa tietoisuuden lisääntyneen omasta uskomuksestaan, käytöksestään, ajatuksistaan ja tunteistaan, hän huomaa usein myös omaavansa erilaisia vaihtoehtoja, joilla hän voi ratkaista juomiseensa liittyvän ongelman.
