Displayed as found! In the pages of history and in the dense undergrowth of human memory, we see glimpses of lurking fantastic beasts. Be honest-haven't you felt them around you? Haven't you been surprised by movement in the corner of your vision? By stirring shadows or a faint rustling in the dark? The specimens in this exhibit of monsters from the Indian subcontinent have been hand-picked from musty old encyclopedias, murky urban legends, earthy folk tales and the white-hot bowels of mythology. Some have been stuffed to restore verisimilitude, but none were washed, painted or otherwise altered.

Today, some suppliers have grown increasingly powerful and in certain cases, earn revenues that rival or even exceed that of their automaker clients. In the pre-globalisation period, automakers wielded absolute power over their significantly smaller suppliers. This book reveals the upending of this relationship, with the gradual shift in the balance of power from automakers to their suppliers in this era of globalisation. The book examines how suppliers in the global tyres, seats, constant velocity joints (hereafter 'CVJs'), braking systems and automotive semiconductor industries have evolved into powerful oligopolies through a mix of acquisition and organic growth strategies. It also highlights how joint ventures could be strategically deployed as springboards to acquisition, as they enable firms to familiarise themselves with their partners’ markets and operations. Moreover, the book analyses the disruption stirred by the entry of well-resourced technology titans into this industry and their inevitable clash with the traditional incumbents. This book is an invaluable reference for anyone interested in learning more about the automakers’ and now their suppliers’ relentless quest to create market-dominating intelligent driving systems.

Entertainment attorneys and Hollywood insiders Dina Appleton and Daniel Yankelevits explain the negotiation techniques and strategies of entertainment dealmaking and detail the interests and roles of producers, writers, actors, directors, agents, and studio employees in crafting a deal. This new edition captures the dramatic changes over the past five years in the film and television industry landscape, with two new chapters: "Reality Television" details the sources of revenue, syndication possibilities, and format sales of these shows as well as the talent deals that are made, and the "Internet/New Media" chapter delves into new digital formats such as mobile phones, game consoles, video-on-demand, and web-based apps, and explains where today's revenues are generated, where the industry is headed, and talent negotiation issues. All the ins and outs of negotiating are explained, including back ends, gross and adjusted gross profits, deferments, box office bonuses, copyrights, and much more. This easy-to-follow reference is packed with expert insights on distribution, licensing, and merchandising. The book's invaluable resource section includes definitions of lingo for acquisition agreements and employment deals, twelve ready-to-use sample contracts, and a directory of entertainment attorneys in both New York and Los Angeles. In Hollywood Dealmaking, readers will recognize the key players in the process, understand the "lingo" of crafting deals, learn how to negotiate agreements for the option and purchase of books and screenplays, be able to negotiate employment deals for all members of a film or television crew, understand payment terms and bonuses, and be able to register copyrights in scripts and other literary works. Public Enterprise Management And Privatisation written by Laxmi Narain and has been published by S. Chand Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-01-01 with Law categories.

A number of public enterprise (PE) executives have long felt the need for a book which would provide necessary information and analysis of various dimensions of PE management and privatisation. The book provides at one place, a precise and authoritative account of the concept, policy, and analysis of major issues confronting PEs. Public ownership per se does not make PE performance sub-optimal. The operation of the Government system, of which PE is a sub-system, has not been conducive to performance. During the last six decades, inadequate political will and vested interests have come in the way of freeing PEs from excessive and throttling controls, and demoralising accountability. Not letting the managers manage with the freedom required in the liberalised and globalised set-up is the problem. The multifarious and complex managerial problems of PEs, which get compounded by faltering moves towards privatisation, cannot be wished away. These have been considered in the book at some length. The book, first published in 1980, continues to be a standard work on the subject. This latest edition has been revised by Dr. R.K.Mishra, Director, Institute of Public Enterprise,Hyderabad.

Energy Security In Japan written by Vlado Vivoda and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-29 with Science categories.

For a country already uneasy about energy security, the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which caused a nuclear catastrophe at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, turned pre-existing Japanese concern about the availability of energy into outright anxiety. The subsequent closure of many nuclear reactors meant Japan needed to replace lost power quickly and so had no choice but to secure additional fossil fuels, undermining Japanese diversification policy and increasing global and regional competition for energy. This switch has been at a cost to the already weak Japanese economy whilst the increase in fossil fuel consumption has caused a significant increase in greenhouse gas emissions. In this book Vlado Vivoda examines the drastically changed environment following the disaster in order to analyse Japan’s energy security challenges and evaluate Tokyo’s energy policy options. Looking at how the disaster exacerbated Japan’s existing energy security challenges, Vivoda considers the best policy options for Japan to enhance national energy security in the future, exploring the main impediments to change and how they might be overcome.
