This looks at a new branch of operator theory and partial differential equations, which in recent years, has become a rapidly growing field of mathematics. Well-posed problems are studied in the context of the theory of operator groups and semigroups as well as the framework of time dependent evolution equations. Non well-posed problems are also considered.

The theory of abstract differential equations is a new branch of operator theory and of ordinary differential equations. It is a rapidly developing area of mathematics, and this book presents new results at the forefront of research in this field. Based on the author's own work, this volume covers differential equations in abstract spaces, presenting new and some of the lesser known facts and propositions of the theory. It will be invaluable reading for postgraduate students and research workers in ordinary and partial differential equations, almost-periodic solutions, theory of semigroups of operators and evolution equations.

The papers in this volume address the state-of-the-art and future directions in applied mathematics in both scattering theory and biomedical technology. A workshop held in Metsovo, Greece during the summer of 1997 brought together some of the world's foremose experts in the field with researchers working in Greece. Sixteen of the contributed papers appear in this volume. All the papers give new directions, and in several cases, the most important scientific contributions in the fields.

Progress In Holomorphic Dynamics written by Hartje Kriete and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-05-20 with Mathematics categories.
In the last few decades, complex dynamical systems have received widespread public attention and emerged as one of the most active fields of mathematical research. Starting where other monographs in the subject end, Progress in Holomorphic Dynamics advances the theoretical aspects and recent results in complex dynamical systems, with particular emphasis on Siegel discs. Organized into four parts, the papers in this volume grew out of three workshops: two hosted by the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and one at the "Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach." Part I addresses linearization. The authors review Yoccoz's proof that the Brjuno condition is the optimal condition for linearizability of indifferent fixed points and offer a treatment of Perez-Marco's refinement of Yoccoz's work. Part II discusses the conditions necessary for the boundary of a Siegel disc to contain a critical point, builds upon Herman's work, and offers a survey of the state-of-the-art regarding the boundaries of Siegel discs. Part III deals with the topology of Julia sets with Siegel discs and contains a remarkable highlight: C.L. Petersen establishes the existence of Siegel discs of quadratic polynomials with a locally connected boundary. Keller, taking a different approach, explains the relations between locally connected "real Julia sets" with Siegel discs and the abstract concepts of kneading sequences and itineraries. Part IV closes the volume with four papers that review the different directions of present research in iteration theory. It includes discussions on the relations between commuting rational functions and their Julia sets, interactions between the iteration of polynomials and the iteration theory of entire transcendental functions, a deep analysis of the topology of the limbs of the Mandelbrot set, and an overview of complex dynamics in higher dimensions.

Mathematical Theory In Fluid Mechanics written by G P Galdi and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996-08-01 with Science categories.
This volume consists of four contributions that are based on a series of lectures delivered by Jens Frehse. Konstantin Pikeckas, K.R. Rajagopal and Wolf von Wahl t the Fourth Winter School in Mathematical Theory in Fluid Mechanics, held in Paseky, Czech Republic, from December 3-9, 1995. In these papers the authors present the latest research and updated surveys of relevant topics in the various areas of theoretical fluid mechanics. Specifically, Frehse and Ruzicka study the question of the existence of a regular solution to Navier-Stokes equations in five dimensions by means of weighted estimates. Pileckas surveys recent results regarding the solvability of the Stokes and Navier-Stokes system in domains with outlets at infinity. K.R. Rajagopal presents an introduction to a continuum approach to mixture theory with the emphasis on the constitutive equation, boundary conditions and moving singular surface. Finally, Kaiser and von Wahl bring new results on stability of basic flow for the Taylor-Couette problem in the small-gap limit. This volume would be indicated for those in the fields of applied mathematicians, researchers in fluid mechanics and theoretical mechanics, and mechanical engineers.

Integral Expansions Related To Mehler Fock Type Transforms written by B N Mandal and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-25 with Mathematics categories.
An important class of integral expansions generated by Sturm-Liouville theory involving spherical harmonics is commonly known as Mehler-Fock integral transforms. In this book, a number of integral expansions of such type have been established rigorously. As applications, integral expansions of some simple function are also obtained.

Elliptic Boundary Value Problems With Indefinite Weights Variational Formulations Of The Principal Eigenvalue And Applications written by Fethi Belgacem and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-05-05 with Mathematics categories.
Elliptic Boundary Value Problems With Indefinite Weights presents a unified approach to the methodologies dealing with eigenvalue problems involving indefinite weights. The principal eigenvalue for such problems is characterized for various boundary conditions. Such characterizations are used, in particular, to formulate criteria for the persistence and extinctions of populations, and applications of the formulations obtained can be quite extensive.

Lectures On Bifurcations Dynamics And Symmetry written by Michael J. Field and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-17 with Mathematics categories.
This book is an expanded version of a Master Class on the symmetric bifurcation theory of differential equations given by the author at the University of Twente in 1995. The notes cover a wide range of recent results in the subject, and focus on the dynamics that can appear in the generic bifurcation theory of symmetric differential equations. This text covers a wide range of current results in the subject of bifurcations, dynamics and symmetry. The style and format of the original lectures has largely been maintained and the notes include over 70 exercises.
