Topological UML Modeling: An Improved Approach for Domain Modeling and Software Development presents a specification for Topological UML® that combines the formalism of the Topological Functioning Model (TFM) mathematical topology with a specified software analysis and design method. The analysis of problem domain and design of desired solutions within software development processes has a major impact on the achieved result – developed software. While there are many tools and different techniques to create detailed specifications of the solution, the proper analysis of problem domain functioning is ignored or covered insufficiently. The design of object-oriented software has been led for many years by the Unified Modeling Language (UML®), an approved industry standard modeling notation for visualizing, specifying, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of a software-intensive system, and this comprehensive book shines new light on the many advances in the field. - Presents an approach to formally define, analyze, and verify functionality of existing processes and desired processes to track incomplete or incorrect functional requirements - Describes the path from functional and nonfunctional requirements specification to software design with step-by-step creation and transformation of diagrams and models with very early capturing of security requirements for software systems. - Defines all modeling constructs as extensions to UML®, thus creating a new UML® profile which can be implemented in existing UML® modeling tools and toolsets

This textbook mainly addresses beginners and readers with a basic knowledge of object-oriented programming languages like Java or C#, but with little or no modeling or software engineering experience – thus reflecting the majority of students in introductory courses at universities. Using UML, it introduces basic modeling concepts in a highly precise manner, while refraining from the interpretation of rare special cases. After a brief explanation of why modeling is an indispensable part of software development, the authors introduce the individual diagram types of UML (the class and object diagram, the sequence diagram, the state machine diagram, the activity diagram, and the use case diagram), as well as their interrelationships, in a step-by-step manner. The topics covered include not only the syntax and the semantics of the individual language elements, but also pragmatic aspects, i.e., how to use them wisely at various stages in the software development process. To this end, the work is complemented with examples that were carefully selected for their educational and illustrative value. Overall, the book provides a solid foundation and deeper understanding of the most important object-oriented modeling concepts and their application in software development. An additional website offers a complete set of slides to aid in teaching the contents of the book, exercises and further e-learning material.

Conceptual modeling has long been recognized as the primary means to enable so- ware development in information systems and data engineering. Conceptual modeling provides languages, methods and tools to understand and represent the application domain; to elicit, conceptualize and formalize system requirements and user needs; to communicate systems designs to all stakeholders; and to formally verify and validate systems design on high levels of abstraction. The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling provides a premiere forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which the major emphasis is on conceptual modeling. Topics of interest span the entire spectrum of conceptual modeling including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies underlying conceptual modeling, methods and tools for - veloping and communicating conceptual models, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations. The scientific program of ER 2008 featured several activities running in parallel. The core activity was the presentation of the 33 research papers published in this volume, which were selected by a large Program Committee (PC) Co-chaired by Qing Li, Stefano Spaccapietra and Eric Yu. We thank the PC Co-chairs, the PC members and the additional referees for the hard work done, often within a short time. Thanks are also due to Moira Norrie from ETH Zurich, Oscar Pastor from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and Amit Sheth from the Wright State Univ- sity for accepting our invitation to present keynotes.

Conceptual modeling is fundamental to any domain where one must cope with complex real-world situations and systems because it fosters communication - tween technology experts and those who would bene?t from the application of those technologies. Conceptual modeling is the key mechanism for und- standing and representing the domains of information system and database - gineering but also increasingly for other domains including the new “virtual” e-environmentsandtheinformationsystemsthatsupportthem.Theimportance of conceptual modeling in software engineering is evidenced by recent interest in “model-drivenarchitecture”and“extremenon-programming”.Conceptualm- eling also plays a prominent rolein various technical disciplines and in the social sciences. The Annual International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (referred to as the ER Conference) provides a central forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which conceptual modeling is the major emphasis. In keeping with this tradition, ER 2005, the 24th ER Conference, spanned the spectrum of conceptual modeling including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies underlying conceptual m- eling, methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into e?ective (information) system implementations. Moreover, new areas of conceptual modeling incl- ing Semantic Web services and the interdependencies of conceptual modeling with knowledge-based, logical and linguistic theories and approaches were also addressed.

Data Science New Issues Challenges And Applications written by Gintautas Dzemyda and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-13 with Computers categories.

This book contains 16 chapters by researchers working in various fields of data science. They focus on theory and applications in language technologies, optimization, computational thinking, intelligent decision support systems, decomposition of signals, model-driven development methodologies, interoperability of enterprise applications, anomaly detection in financial markets, 3D virtual reality, monitoring of environmental data, convolutional neural networks, knowledge storage, data stream classification, and security in social networking. The respective papers highlight a wealth of issues in, and applications of, data science. Modern technologies allow us to store and transfer large amounts of data quickly. They can be very diverse - images, numbers, streaming, related to human behavior and physiological parameters, etc. Whether the data is just raw numbers, crude images, or will help solve current problems and predict future developments, depends on whether we can effectively process and analyze it. Data science is evolving rapidly. However, it is still a very young field. In particular, data science is concerned with visualizations, statistics, pattern recognition, neurocomputing, image analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, databases and data processing, data mining, big data analytics, and knowledge discovery in databases. It also has many interfaces with optimization, block chaining, cyber-social and cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things (IoT), social computing, high-performance computing, in-memory key-value stores, cloud computing, social computing, data feeds, overlay networks, cognitive computing, crowdsource analysis, log analysis, container-based virtualization, and lifetime value modeling. Again, all of these areas are highly interrelated. In addition, data science is now expanding to new fields of application: chemical engineering, biotechnology, building energy management, materials microscopy, geographic research, learning analytics, radiology, metal design, ecosystem homeostasis investigation, and many others.

This book contains the best papers of the Second International Conference on So- ware and Data Technologies (ICSOFT 2007), held in Barcelona, Spain. It was org- ized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control (INSTICC), co-sponsored by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), in cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Institute for Collaboration and Research on Enterprise Systems and Technology (IICREST). The purpose of ICSOFT 2007 was to bring together researchers and practitioners int- ested in information technology and software development. The conference tracks were “Software Engineering,” “Information Systems and Data Management,” “Programming Languages,” “Distributed and Parallel Systems” and “Knowledge Engineering.” Being crucial for the development of information systems, software and data te- nologies encompass a large number of research topics and applications: from imp- mentation-related issues to more abstract theoretical aspects of software engineering; from databases and data warehouses to management information systems and kno- edge-base systems; next to that, distributed systems, pervasive computing, data quality and other related topics are included in the scope of this conference.
