Una lezione per l’uomo d’oggi, che coi suoi interventi edificatori si espone sempre più al rischio di catastrofi ecologiche come alluvioni, frane, desertificazione. Per un migliaio d’anni, nelle oasi dello M’Zab non c’è stata quella che noi chiamiamo “evoluzione degli stili artistici”. Gli edifici e le altre costruzioni – come gli sbarramenti che ritengono le acque per l’irrigazione – esprimono la stessa risposta essenziale ai bisogni di base, senza mutamenti nelle proprie forme. È stata questa la scoperta fatta, nel nostro secolo, da un grande architetto come Le Corbusier, l’essenzialità in modo spontaneo e quasi naturale, senza cercare di di stupire con grandiosità o con decorazioni fastose. È questa la grandezza dell’architettura mozabita.
