A new take on therapeutic mindfulness with specific applications to troubled and delinquent youth is the focus of this innovative text. It introduces Family Mode Deactivation Therapy (FMDT) and its core concepts and methodologies, differentiating it from other cognitive and mindfulness therapies for adolescents with problem behaviors and comorbid conditions. Step by step applications of FMDT from case conceptualization to assessment and treatment are featured, with detailed case studies demonstrating its effectiveness in treating mood disorders, aggressive behavior and trauma and guidelines for its use with abusive families and other complex cases. The book's depth of clinical detail and appendix of therapist tools make it especially practical. Included in the coverage: A comparison of MDT with other cognitive approaches. The empirical status of MDT. Mindfulness in MDT process, and in the treatment room. FMDT and sexual offender youth. MDT and mindfulness in the context of trauma. Treating the "untreatable": FMDT and challenging populations. While Treating Adolescents with Family-Based Mindfulness is immediately useful to practicing psychotherapists, it should also be of interest to other professionals with a role in adolescent health care, such as policymakers, social workers, supervisors, juvenile corrections and youth center personnel and students and researchers.

If you want more mind-blowing orgasms you'll need a conversation starter, a scintillating, whimsical, funny and informative permission slip to step outside your sexual comfort zone and embrace that "other" more adventurous you. You'll need Total Mindfu*k! Sexual roleplay at its core is a form of erotic escapism, allowing participants that may have some inhibitions or hang-ups in their sex life (possibly stemming from prior bad experiences, sexual or verbal abuse, religious guilt or cultural influences, etc.) to step into the role of someone unfazed by such things for a while. For some, roleplaying is just another awesome tool in the sex drawer, for others, roleplaying can become the dominant or only way they orgasm because this temporary disassociation with the abused, shamed or mistreated self can be incredibly empowering. Total Mindfu*k emphasizes improvisation and imagination over elaborate costumes and predetermined scenes, allowing you more leeway to adapt in the moment, share a laugh and blow each other's minds (and bodies). Meticulously crafted to transform supposedly taboo, experimental or shame-inducing sexual exploits into accessible and utterly orgasmic adventures for the rest of us, Heat & Stir's Fast and Filthy Guidebooks get it done in about a hundred pages (Fast), including intense sexual encounters and pottymouth (Filthy) as promised.

One of the side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic was the worsening of the symptomatology of mental disorders. The number of people with mental disorders has increased and pre-existing mental disorders have worsened, in many cases. Psychopharmacology alone is not sufficient for the treatment of conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among others, and the combined use of psychopharmacology and non-pharmacological interventions is recommended by international guidelines. Despite this, most people around the world do not have access to non-pharmacological interventions and when they are diagnosed with a mental disorder, only psychopharmacological drugs are prescribed. In other cases, although non-pharmacological interventions, for example psychotherapy, are also prescribed, this response takes a long time.

Mindfulness Wide Awakeness In Higher Education written by Sarah E. Montgomery and has been published by IAP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-01 with Education categories.

How can we support our college students cultivating wide-awakeness, or a way of paying attention and being fully present to oneself and the world? How might we use mindfulness practices to help ourselves and our students become more wide awake, realize our interconnectedness, see what is possible, and transform our lives and the world around us? Educational philosopher Maxine Greene called for the need to intentionally promote wide-awakeness, which includes deepening our awareness, asking critical questions, recognizing that alternatives exist, and finding the agency to make changes personally and collectively. Mindfulness & Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education draws upon Greene’s work to explore the voices and experiences of college students who engaged in mindfulness practices during every class session in a cohort over an academic year and others who participated in a mindfulness group that met weekly for a year. The book explores how students used mindfulness to support their academic success, create a culture of connectedness, promote increased empathy, and fuel their sense of agency regarding social interactions and teaching the practices to others. In particular, the voices of students of color who chose to participate in the weekly mindfulness group are elevated and honored. A culminating chapter provides numerous examples of the mindfulness practices taught throughout the two-year study, serving as an accessible guide for higher education professionals interested in doing this work who would like ideas for where to begin or how to further develop their teaching and student support services. Overall, the book provides rich insights and practical approaches for how higher education faculty and staff can work together with students so we can all become more wide-awake to what is possible in our hearts, in our classrooms, on our campuses, and beyond. ENDORSEMENTS: "Mindfulness & Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education came into my life at the right time. The privileging of the voices of students of color and the collection of accessible mindfulness practices makes this a great tool for teacher educators across the country. If you are looking for a way to support your students’ mental health, academics, empathy, and agency, you will find all that and more in this book." — Denisha Jones, Sarah Lawrence College "This book contributes to mindfulness and contemplative practices in higher education with transformative learning and democratic education frameworks. It is an invitation to bring our whole authentic selves as faculty and students into the classrooms to be “wide awake” and see each other as human beings, not merely as our roles." — Bengü Ergüner-Tekinalp, Drake University "If you care deeply about the tangible outcomes of higher education for students and the degree to which those experiences awaken their curiosity about people, place, and planet, Mindfulness and Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education should be a must on your reading list. Sarah Montgomery provides an excellent framework to illustrate the power of teaching mindfulness and what is possible when we make time and space for woke teaching and learning." — Paulette Patterson Dilworth, The University of Alabama at Birmingham
