The dominance of vision is so strong in sighted people that touch is sometimes considered as a minor perceptual modality. However, touch is a powerful tool which contributes significantly to our knowledge of space and objects. Its intensive use by blind persons allows them to reach the same levels of knowledge and cognition as their sighted peers. In this book, specialized researchers present the recent state of knowledge about the cognitive functioning of touch. After an analysis of the neurophysiology and neuropsychology of touch, exploratory manual behaviors, intramodal haptic (tactual-kinesthetic) abilities and cross-modal visual-tactual coordination are examined in infants, children and adults, and in non-human primates. These studies concern both sighted and blind persons in order to know whether early visual deprivation modifies the modes of processing space and objects. The last section is devoted to the technical devices favoring the school and social integration of the young blind: Braille reading, use of raised maps and drawings, “sensory substitution” displays, and new technologies of communication adapted for the blind. Is the world an illusion? Is our Universe a hologram? This is a magical world. “All there Is” is you; you are the magnificent reflection of “All That Is” in the world of Existence and three dimensions. Let us wake up from this illusion. We have to realize we will leave this body one day; we have to realize all of our possessions will be left behind as we depart for our next new adventure. This is not a book of divine informative revelation. These words do not come from heaven. These writings (knowledge) arose in the Heart through Universal Intuition and were written from Oneself to oneself without the interference of the author’s personal thoughts (ego). What you call ‘I’ is your identity. Bonding yourself with your identity creates the ‘I am’ ego personality. This identity of yours is not actually you, it is an illusory state of what you are not. In Reality, you are not your ego-identity. The external world and its social parameters play a big role in forming this ego-identity. You do not own anything, no name, no form or any image that you can call ’I’. You have not constructed or created these. You do not own anything you think you can control or possess. When you identify yourself with these things, the things that you are not (or do not own), you are creating a self-imposed prison for yourself and living inside of it. In other words, you create your ‘ego-personality. In this case, we have to ask the following question - who am I Really? Are you really all that you claim to own, names, forms and images? Are you only made up of body and mind? When you identify with these beliefs and those of the collective world consciousness you get lost and break away from your true Reality. When you claim ownership of these names, forms and images, you create your ‘ego-personality. Whenever you say ‘I am’ this or that, you are identifying with that thing which you now claim as your own and you unify yourself with that thing. If you do not identify with anything, if you do not claim ownership of anything, the ‘I’ ceases to exist. Removing the ‘I’, dissolving it, is the ultimate freedom we seek. The walls of the self-imposed prison of ego personality you possessively created will fall away. Here, in this liberated state of being, the necessity for choice or decision falls away too. You act just as is needed in each moment of life as it arises in the Now. Thoughts of “should I have done this or that?” will disappear. The mind is like software running on a computer. The “virus” that corrupts the software is the ego. It is this ego-personality that creates erroneous beliefs and then claims ownership of them. Only when this virus is removed by an antivirus program, Mind reveals itself in its full capacity. With this cleaning up process, human minds become increasingly liberated and expansively intelligent. In this Book, knowledge of advanced life is being released into the public publishing domain for the first time. This life can be described with concepts of “Absolute Human”, “Birth of Absolute Humanity”, “Experiencing Non-Existence” and “Beyond Non-Existence”. We believe through our life experience that the only way to change our individual and collective point of view is to know NON-EXISTENCE. The will behind the writing and publishing of this knowledge in the Book arose in servitude.

This book aims to define new theoretical, practical, and methodological directions in educational research centered on the role of the body in teaching and learning. Based on our phenomenological experience of the world, it draws on perspectives from arts-education and aesthetics, as well as curriculum theory, cultural anthropology and ethnomusicology. These are arenas with a rich untapped cache of experience and inquiry that can be applied to the notions of schooling, teaching and learning. The book provides examples of state-of-the-art, empirical research on the body in a variety of educational settings. Diverse art forms, curricular settings, educational levels, and cultural traditions are selected to demonstrate the complexity and richness of embodied knowledge as they are manifested through institutional structures, disciplines, and specific practices.

Over the course of a 50-year career, James T. McLaughlin has sought to open the playing field of psychoanalytic exploration by treating unconscious processes as the very material from which we fashion meaningful lives. His unique, iconoclastic perspective, which challenged the conventions of his time and professional milieu, not only engages the creative tension between the stance of the analyst and the stance of the healer, but also contains striking intimations of contemporary relational and interpersonal models of psychoanalytic treatment. The Healer's Bent, which thematically integrates published and unpublished papers and contains three chapters of heretofore unpublished autobiographical reflection, bridges analytic practice and other psychotherapeutic modalities. It will make McLaughlin's distinct approach to clinical theory and practice widely available to a broad and receptive readership.

It has been six weeks since touch clairvoyant Gray Graham consulted with the Greater Tribal Council of the Americas military and police about a border incursion. All has remained quiet, though as suggested, she has become more active in the Psycept community of Albuquerque, her home of fifteen years. Now, Gray's brother and sister are coming to visit and she is taking a small break from consulting on Psycept police cases to spend time with them. Gray enjoys her siblings company but there is another side to their visit. Gray keeps tabs on prior cases, especially unsolved murders, in anticipation of their infrequent reunions. For though some murderers may have escaped the long arm of the law, together, the Graham siblings have an extensive reach and justice is calling. Novella; 39,000 words Cover by: Melody Pond

A Theory Of Immediate Awareness

A Theory Of Immediate Awareness written by M. Estep and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-05-31 with Computers categories.

This book presents a realist, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary theory of immediate awareness showing it is the most primitive cognitive network underlying all our natural intelligence. Including preattentive and attention processes, as well as primitive relations of the senses, imagination and memory, immediate awareness is a kind of knowing deeply embedded and interwoven throughout our multiple kinds of natural intelligence. It permits as well as drives our knowing how, our bodily intelligence. Against the Cartesian mind-body split found in earlier and current theories, the author shows how immediate awareness permits emergent properties of mind in multilayered primitive relations of touching and moving in bodily kinesthetic intelligence. Contrary to existing theories, she argues that sensation is not cognitively "neutral", nor does it require a "representation" in order to be accessible to cognitive processes. Dr. Estep presents empirical evidence and arguments that sensation of immediate awareness is itself cognitive and embedded within our sensory and somatosensory-motor processes. The author's aim is to turn to a more geometric approach to natural intelligence, as opposed to the prevalent symbol-based view. In this approach, she uses random Boolean networks as a way of obtaining law-like properties of those primitive relations of immediate awareness in terms of dynamical systems theory. This demonstrates the properties of self-organization and adaptation of immediate awareness without committing one to a physicalist/materialist theory. It gives us a way of understanding core properties of our own inner conscious lives, and of understanding the smooth and seamless sensitivity of primitive sensory and somatosensory-motor awareness. Dr. Estep's theory of immediate awareness also shows that the computational view of mind is wrong. Though our minds do classify, classification is not all they do. Our immediate awareness indexically selects sui generis objects that are unique and of no kind or class. The influence of nominalism and narrow naturalist theories have resulted in extremely narrow concepts of the human knowing mind and intelligence, leaving out immediate awareness altogether. We slip into subtle nominalist fallacies when we take our language metaphors – and language itself – too far.
