Do we rush outside ourselves to try to change the world, or first put our own facemask on before helping others? Touching Tomorrow is a book of paintings and poetry in consideration of life, the now, the future and evolution. Each poem and painting speaks to us about different facets of being human at this time. The book offers contemplation, meditation, inner reflection and for quiet dialogue with friends.Early in 2020 the world as we knew it changed. Something entered our lives causing a stop; it threw us into an unknown. Over half the world found themselves contained at home. Millions started searching for how they could contribute to the situation we found ourselves in, instigated by something we call COVID-19. The idea of bringing together some art and poetry in this way seemed timely. Perhaps a contribution into what could happen now if enough of us want it. Perhaps part of a process, a movement, that is happening at this time. Marion Verweij was born in Bristol, UK. After some years of travelling around Europe, she settled in the Netherlands. Mark Stolk grew up in Delft, the Netherlands, and later moved to Denmark. Along the winding path of life, both have developed and honed their skill in their respective arts of writing and painting. Marion is a published author and writer and Mark has exhibited around Europe and the US. This is their debut collaboration.Their inner sentiments find practical expression in their humanity: for example, participating with other concerned citizens about issues of import to us all, or in working with Africans to improve human rights on their continent. They both give talks and conduct workshops in many countries around the themes that can be found in Touching Tomorrow.Art and poetry lovers would want Touching Tomorrow on their coffee table. Those who want to deepen their understanding about humanity and are brave enough to take on the challenge of themselves, would want it on the bedside table.
