Bachelor Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Tourism - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, language: English, abstract: This paper aims to explore different types of tourist taxes and the motives for implementing them, as well as the impacts they induce on different stakeholders. Further, the topic of sustainability in tourism is elucidated. The research then deals with the willingness of German tourists to pay those taxes under different circumstances. As the literature review revealed a few qualitative studies on this topic, a quantitative approach was chosen, in order to test the results of these studies and the resulting hypotheses. It was expected, that tourists are likely to change their travel behavior due to the implementation of taxes, it was rather expected that they would not be willing to pay them. However, the study showed, that most participants are willing to pay a tourist tax, if the allocated funds are used to ensure the environmental sustainability of a destination. The factor which mostly influences the willingness to pay, is the respondents' attitude towards sustainability. Secondly, it was discovered that confidence in the implemented action seems to be of big importance. Participants who trust that allocated funds are used for the mentioned purposes, show a higher willingness to pay. Concludingly, local governments of tourist destination should increase their trustworthiness, by being more transparent, not only in collecting taxes, but also in finding appropriate purposes for spending the money on. Tourists are more likely to pay, if it is for the 'right' cause. As the overtourism problem increases around the world, many popular tourist destinations are resorting to measures, which are supposed to solve the problem totally, or to at least find ways to compensate the adverse effects created by tourism. One of these measures is the implementation of tourist taxes, which has become increasingly popular am

The environmental quality and popularity of any tourist destination is the outcome of sustained development, shaped by the socio-economic and physical dimensions of the local environment. Protecting the ‘living landscape’ requires recognizing, promoting and developing the links between economic, social and environmental objectives. This book therefore examines the tourism business in terms of ‘greening’ the local economy, people and environment, establishing the green agenda and investigating its application to the tourism sector.

Tanzania is rivalled by few countries, if any, in terms of its bountiful natural and cultural tourist attractions. Given that tourism development, if sustainable, is an outstanding policy for distributing welfare, even to less developed parts of a country, this field is of particular importance to Tanzania. In this edited volume, prominent scholars focus on the practises and policies of tourism development, with a particular eye on the case of Tanzania. They explore the demand for sustainability from international tourists, the need for local food and linkages between the tourism and agricultural sectors, and the production of tourism services in a responsible and inclusive way. The book will be a valuable source of knowledge for the tourism industry, as well as policymakers, scholars and students who are concerned about the development of a form of tourism which benefits a country, inclusively and responsibly.

This book examines both how tourist behavior is being shaped by the new tourism products and segments that are appearing on the European market and how the tourist experience influences post-trip evaluation of destinations and of tourism and hospitality businesses. On this basis, practical implications and recommendations are highlighted that will help destination management organizations to improve the performance of their destinations and particular businesses. The first part of the book explores visitor engagement with a range of new products relating to sports activities and events, city tourism, wine tourism, and youth tourism. In the second part, the focus is primarily on the ways in which tourist experiences influence subsequent trip recommendations, revisiting attitudes, and reviewing behavior on social media. Other topics to be addressed include the factors affecting tourism expenditure on accommodation in World Heritage Cities and the impacts of experience on the motivation of participants in recreational sports tourism events. The book will be of interest for researchers, industry professionals, under- and postgraduate students, and others who wish to learn about new trends in tourist behavior and emerging tourism products.

What factors contribute to tourism and recreation development? How can we characterise stakeholder rationales and organisation modes to enhance tourism resources and foster tourism and recreation services? To what extent do tourism and recreation contribute to regional development? What changes are taking place in terms of new destinations, stakeholders, policy objectives? Bringing together scholars from the fields of planning, economics, sociology, management studies and geography, this book examines cross-cutting issues in tourism and recreation with the aim of developing an extended view of leisure time. Focusing mainly on France with comparison to the experience of Northern and Southern European countries and North America, it combines a diverse range of case studies to address issues such as contrasting rural dynamics, changing public policies, sustainable development imperatives, evolving user behaviour and increasingly diverse recreation activities and stakeholder organisation. Specific topics are highlighted, such as the role of social capital or culture as factors of recreation development; resort organisation from international and experience-based perspectives; and the usefulness of the capability approach to evaluate tourism impacts on local development. Emphasising policy recommendations to help public or collective action on the issues and presenting emerging trends in the field, this book should be of interest to students, scholars and stakeholders in tourism/recreation planning and management.

Marketing For Sustainable Tourism written by Umberto Martini and has been published by MDPI this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-13 with Business & Economics categories.

The aim of the Special Issue is to discuss the main current topics concerning marketing for sustainable tourism with reference to territories (i.e., tourism destinations, protected areas, parks and/or natural sites, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, rural regions/areas, etc.) and tourism enterprises and/or organisations (i.e., destination management organisations, hospitality enterprises, restaurant enterprises, cableway companies, travel agencies, etc.). In destinations where natural resources are pull factors for tourism development, the relationships among local actors (public, private, and local community), as well as marketing choices, are essential to develop sustainable tourism products. To this end, the Special Issue encourages papers that analyse marketing strategies adopted by tourism destinations and/or tourism enterprises to avoid overtourism, to manage mass sustainable tourism (as defined by Weaver, 2000), and to encourage and promote sustainable tourism in marginal areas or in territories suffering lack of integration in the tourism offer. Special attention will be given to contributions on the best practices to manage territories and/or enterprises adopting sustainable marketing strategies.
