Knjiga obravnava razsežnosti tradicije v sodobnosti, kot se kažejo v polurbaniziranem okolju na severovzhodnem obrobju Ljubljane – na Janèah z okolico. V njej avtorica analizira koncept tradicije, ki je eden od osrednjih v etnologiji in folkloristiki, in razèlenjuje njene konkretizacije na etnografskem terenu. Pri tem se osredinja predvsem na kmeèko delo in njegove ritualne dimenzije, delno pa tudi na drugo dedišèino, tradicijo kmeèkega okolja. To domaèini ne le pozitivno vrednotijo, paè pa tudi prikazujejo v idealnotipskih podobah, s èimer pripomorejo k ustvarjanju t. i. podeželske idile, mikavne za turiste. Kot vrednota je (p)ostala sredstvo zbujanja in ohranjanja pripadnosti doloèenim skupnostim in obmoèju samemu, uporablja pa se tudi kot argument v splošnem in vzdržnem razvoju obmoèja.

This collection examines key aesthetic avant-garde art movements of the twentieth century and their relationships with revolutionary politics. The contributors distinguish aesthetic avant-gardes —whose artists aim to transform society and the ways of sensing the world through political means—from the artistic avant-gardes, which focus on transforming representation. Following the work of philosophers such as Friedrich Schiller and Jacques Rancière, the contributors argue that the aesthetic is inherently political and that aesthetic avant-garde art is essential for political revolution. Celebrity promotions, the investments of rich executives, and the wealthy social networks of charismatic conservationists are producing more commodified and commercial conservation strategies; conservation becomes an ever more important means of generating profit. Celebrity and the Environment provides vital critical analysis of this new phenomena and argues that, ironically, there may be a hidden cost to celebrity power to individual's relationships with the wild.
