The present volume provides a sequential nexus of Tradition, Modernization and Globalization right from the early stages up to present time. The continuum of tradition and modernity is delineated clearly in different papers in the wake of modern scientific inventions and technological innovations. Some of the very brilliant analyses of the features of tradition, modernization and globalization done by the sociologists of international repute and specialized scholars of social sciences have made this book a unique specimen that provides a critical and crosscultural analysis of tradition, modernization and global developments with concrete instances in different domains of societies. The book is divided in two major parts. Part one deals with the historical perspective of tradition and modernization and part two focuses on the emerging features of tradition, modernization and globalization and their impacts on different components of economy, polity and social structure in the developed societies of Europe and USA as well as developing societies of Asia, Africa and Latin America. This book may be an academic stimulant to administrators, planners and policymakers of governments and scholars of higher studies as well as scientists and technologists interested in the fields of modernization and overall global development. The present volume is the outcome of a joint academic endeavour with Prof. S.K. Srivastava, who left for heavenly abode on 12 May 2012 in the mid journey of the publication.

Lee provides a comprehensive guide that traces the transformation of Korean theatre from traditional to modern theatre and examines the impact of the introduction of Western plays to Korean society. Important changes in Korean theatre are discussed chronologically from the beginning of the modernization: Sinpa Theatre, Singeuk Theatre, Theatre of Ideology, The Little Theatre Movement, Madanggeuk, experiments for modernizing traditional Korean theatrical arts, and transitions to postmodern theatre. These changes happened rapidly and coupled with Eurocentric globalization. By the end of the century, the reinterpretations of Western drama like Shakespeare's plays had reached a point where they received attention from the Western world. Today, Korean theatre keeps pace with the world theatre and strives to contribute as a member of it. This book is a vital resource for scholars and students pursuing Korean studies and East Asian theatres with an authentic Korean perspective from a Korean scholar who has lived and researched in Korea. Hybrid Modernity written by Mary Padua and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-26 with Architecture categories.

This book provides a detailed historical and design analysis of the development of parks and modern landscape architecture in late 20th century China. It questions whether the fusion of international influences with the local Chinese design vocabulary in late 20th century China has created a distinctive and novel approach to the design of public parks. Hybrid Modernity proposes a new theory for examining the design of public parks built in post-Mao China since the reforms and sets the various processes for China’s late 20th century socio-cultural context. Drawing on modernization theory, research on China’s modernity, local and global cultural trends, it illustrates through a range of case studies ways hybrid modernity defines a new design genre and language for the spatial forms of parks that emerged in China’s secondary cities. Featured case studies include the Living Water Park in Chengdu, Sichuan province, Zhongshan Shipyard Park in Guangdong Province, Jinji Lake Landscape Master Plan in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, and the West Lake Southern Scenic Area Master Plan in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. This book argues that these forms represent a new stage in China’s history of landscape architecture. The work reveals that as a new profession, landscape architecture has greatly contributed to China’s massive urban experiment. This book is an ideal read for students enrolled in landscape architecture, architecture, fine arts and urban planning programs who are engaged in learning the arts and international design education.
