Traditional Saint Names For Catholics: ''Great Christian Names for Babies, Baptism & Confirmation From the Pre-1970 Roman Martyrology'', Plus Two Bonuses: 1,000+ Patron Saints & Liturgical Feasts (Jan.-Dec.) "The ultimate reference for traditional Catholic names!" When Catholics name themselves or their children after saints, they ensure the saint''s patronage, proclaim their faith, and honor the saint & God. Changing names is also symbolic of biblical name changes corresponding to important transformations (e.g. Saul to Paul). This publication - "a treasury of saint names, patrons & feasts" - is designed to be a useful resource for Catholics who are starting (or who have already started) the wonderful & important journey of selecting a saint''s name, either for themselves (e.g. Confirmation) or for their child (e.g. Baptism). It contains... * Over 6,400 listings [including 4,500+ from a pre-1970 Roman Martyrology, 1,200+ patron saints, and hundreds of liturgical feasts (traditional & new)], containing about 2,000 distinct names total * Variety of convenient lists [e.g. alphabetical, male & female (about 88% contain M/F indicator), date, patronage, patronage category] * Prayer for choosing a name (for private use) Designed for Catholics, this handy reference may be used as a springboard for: * Naming children * Baptismal & Confirmation names * Choosing patron saints * Animal lovers may even get ideas for (respectfully) naming beloved pets Perfect for: * Baby shower gifts * Confirmation preparation * Parish libraries * Home reference library You may be glad to know that, unlike some alternatives that focus on secular sources, this book relies on Catholic sources - including a pre-1970 Roman Martyrology & the General Roman Calendar. Also, unlike some alternative naming books which may make ''convoluted'' steps to tie names to saints, this publication contains ''actual'' saint names. And, since many saints can share the same name, this publication may offer multiple listings for applicable name(s), providing you more saints to choose from for any given name(s). We hope that this book will be MUCH more to you than ''just a list of names'', but rather that it will be a wonderful resource of saints that you can invoke & call on for help in your daily life. We wish you God''s abundant blessings & the saints'' continual intercession. Note: Please see below for more important information. + + + Get your copy today! Also makes a great gift! + + + Limitations & Notes: * NOT illustrated. * NOT an encyclopedia. Focused on saint names. Limited to only a few detail(s) to keep size manageable. * Contains duplicate names/duplication--yet publication still contains about 2,000 distinct names. * Some persons listed as others/companions, etc. * Date ordered list contains non-name items for a more comprehensive list. * Some names may seem unusual, yet are actual saint names from the Roman Martyrology. * Saints'' names are not exclusively Christian (and may have non-Christian origins). * Does NOT include pronunciation, word origins/roots, meanings, alternate spellings/forms, etc. * Most items may be ''traditional''. Some items may not be ''politically correct''. * Saints canonized, made patrons or added to the liturgical calendar more recently (e.g. after source materials were printed), or saints not included in the pre-1970 Roman Martyrology index may be excluded. * Designed as a springboard - NOT an exclusive resource for selecting a name. We urge users to research name(s)/saint(s) in as many good, traditional publications as possible and we also suggest ''fact-checking'' all important details before making significant decisions such as naming. See terms of use for other important information.

Today, Christianity has become the most popular and fast-growing religion in Ghana. Paradoxically, the Christian Church, in whatever form it has taken, has, for a complexity of reasons, basically remained a weak church with a weak foundation. This book discusses, from a theologico-cultural anthropological perspective, some of the ecclesial and social processes and factors that, the author believes, are responsible for the creation of this paradox in the case of the Ghanaian Catholic Church and demonstrates how they influence the search for a Catholic spiritual tradition in it.

Religion Around John Donne written by Joshua Eckhardt and has been published by Penn State Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-05 with Religion categories.

In this volume, Joshua Eckhardt examines the religious texts and books that surrounded the poems, sermons, and inscriptions of the early modern poet and preacher John Donne. Focusing on the material realities legible in manuscripts and Sammelbände, bookshops and private libraries, Eckhardt uncovers the myriad ways in which Donne’s writings were received and presented, first by his contemporaries, and later by subsequent readers of his work. Eckhardt sheds light on the religious writings with which Donne’s work was linked during its circulation, using a bibliographic approach that also informs our understanding of his work’s reception during the early modern period. He analyzes the religious implications of the placement of Donne’s poem “A Litany” in a library full of Roman Catholic and English prayer books, the relationship and physical proximity of Donne’s writings to figures such as Sir Thomas Egerton and Izaak Walton, and the movements in later centuries of Donne’s work from private owners to the major libraries that have made this study possible. Eckhardt’s detailed research reveals how Donne’s writings have circulated throughout history—and how religious readers, communities, and movements affected the distribution and reception of his body of work. Centered on a place in time when distinct methods of reproduction, preservation, and circulation were used to negotiate a complex and sometimes dangerous world of confessional division, Religion Around John Donne makes an original contribution to Donne studies, religious history, book history, and reception studies.
