Le droit international des droits de l'Homme est devenu, en quelques décennies, un domaine incontournable du droit international public, voire un modèle de référence de la pensée juridique internationaliste. Le saisir dans sa globalité, dans ses nuances et insuffisances ainsi que dans sa pluralité, tel est l'objet du présent ouvrage. Ce dernier retient une méthode globale comparant les divers systèmes de protection, universel et régionaux, et nourrie par l'analyse systématique des textes et des jurisprudences. L'ouvrage est structuré autour de quatre axes principaux. Le premier porte sur les fondements du droit international des droits de l'homme, et met en exergue ses composantes théoriques, sa formation en droit positif ainsi que les rapports qu'il entretient avec les autres branches du droit international public. Le deuxième présente l'ingénierie du droit international des droits de l'homme, et étudie les ressorts de son architecture institutionnelle aux plans universel (Nations Unies) et régionaux (Conseil de l'Europe/Union européenne, Organisation des Etats américains, Union africaine, Ligue des Etats arabes, Association des Etats de l'Asie du Sud-Est), ses mécanismes de protection, ainsi que les modes de contrôle contentieux et non-contentieux. L'interprétation des droits et libertés internationalement garantis forme la troisième partie de l'ouvrage. Y sont étudiées tant les règles qui guident l'interprète dans son office que les interprétations matérielles de chaque droit et liberté dans les différents ensembles de protection. Le quatrième axe porte sur les conséquences juridiques qui naissent de la violation par l'Etat de ses obligations en matière de droits de l'homme, et en particulier sur les réparations des préjudices subis et le suivi des décisions rendues sur la base d'une action contentieuse internationale.
