Robin Hartshorne studied algebraic geometry with Oscar Zariski and David Mumford at Harvard, and with J.-P. Serre and A. Grothendieck in Paris. After receiving his Ph.D. from Princeton in 1963, Hartshorne became a Junior Fellow at Harvard, then taught there for several years. In 1972 he moved to California where he is now Professor at the University of California at Berkeley. He is the author of "Residues and Duality" (1966), "Foundations of Projective Geometry (1968), "Ample Subvarieties of Algebraic Varieties" (1970), and numerous research titles. His current research interest is the geometry of projective varieties and vector bundles. He has been a visiting professor at the College de France and at Kyoto University, where he gave lectures in French and in Japanese, respectively. Professor Hartshorne is married to Edie Churchill, educator and psychotherapist, and has two sons. He has travelled widely, speaks several foreign languages, and is an experienced mountain climber. He is also an accomplished amateur musician: he has played the flute for many years, and during his last visit to Kyoto he began studying the shakuhachi.

The main goal of the CIME Summer School on "Algebraic Cycles and Hodge Theory" has been to gather the most active mathematicians in this area to make the point on the present state of the art. Thus the papers included in the proceedings are surveys and notes on the most important topics of this area of research. They include infinitesimal methods in Hodge theory; algebraic cycles and algebraic aspects of cohomology and k-theory, transcendental methods in the study of algebraic cycles.

The second volume of this modern account of Kaehlerian geometry and Hodge theory starts with the topology of families of algebraic varieties. The main results are the generalized Noether-Lefschetz theorems, the generic triviality of the Abel-Jacobi maps, and most importantly, Nori's connectivity theorem, which generalizes the above. The last part deals with the relationships between Hodge theory and algebraic cycles. The text is complemented by exercises offering useful results in complex algebraic geometry. This is the second volume of the proceedings of the third European Congress of Mathematics. Volume I presents the speeches delivered at the Congress, the list of lectures, and short summaries of the achievements of the prize winners as well as papers by plenary and parallel speakers. The second volume collects articles by prize winners and speakers of the mini-symposia. This two-volume set thus gives an overview of the state of the art in many fields of mathematics and is therefore of interest to every professional mathematician.

Handbook Of Research On Visual Computing And Emerging Geometrical Design Tools written by Amoruso, Giuseppe and has been published by IGI Global this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-11 with Design categories.

Visual computing and descriptive geometry are multidisciplinary fields addressing the handling of images, 3D models, and other computer graphics. These ideas are experiencing a revival due to emergent technologies and applications available to developers. Based in traditional forms of design and architecture, these fields are currently experiencing a bounty of new research based on old principles. The Handbook of Research on Visual Computing and Emerging Geometrical Design Tools seeks to add to this knowledge base by considering these technologies from a designer’s perspective rather than reiterating the principles of computer science. It combines aspects of geometry and representation with emerging tools for CAD, generation, and visualization while addressing the digital heritage of such fields. This book is an invaluable resource for developers, students of both graphic and computer-generated design, researchers, and designers.

Theory Of K Loops written by Hubert Kiechle and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-03-25 with Mathematics categories.

The book contains the first systematic exposition of the current known theory of K-loops, as well as some new material. In particular, big classes of examples are constructed. The theory for sharply 2-transitive groups is generalized to the theory of Frobenius groups with many involutions. A detailed discussion of the relativistic velocity addition based on the author's construction of K-loops from classical groups is also included. The first chapters of the book can be used as a text, the later chapters are research notes, and only partially suitable for the classroom. The style is concise, but complete proofs are given. The prerequisites are a basic knowledge of algebra such as groups, fields, and vector spaces with forms.
