Mit dem demografischen Wandel in Deutschland verlassen Generationen mit großen Erfahrungsschätzen die Unternehmen. Hieraus resultiert insbesondere die Herausforderung, wie Unternehmen die richtige Nutzung ihres bestehenden sowie den Transfer ihres abgehenden Erfahrungswissens an nachfolgende Generationen organisieren. Daneben werden Unternehmen mit Trends wie individuelleren Kundenwünschen und schnelleren Time-to-Market-Zeiten konfrontiert. Diese erhöhen den Innovationsdruck auf neue Produktvarianten und spiegeln sich in kürzeren Entwicklungs- und Produktionszeiten wider. Bestehende Wissenstransfermethoden reichen aufgrund ihrer zeitlich befristeten Anwendung losgelöst vom Arbeitsprozess nicht aus, das speziell durch Handlungen sichtbar werdende Erfahrungswissen zu transferieren. Durch eine empirische Studie im Produktionsumfeld eines Automobilherstellers wird die Wirkungsweise von Erfahrungswissen in einem komplexen und kurzfristigen Arbeitsumfeld analysiert und der Zusammenhang von Situationen im Arbeitsprozess und dem Erfahrungswissenstransfer wird hergestellt. Auf Basis der Grounded Theory Methode werden schließlich Rahmenbedingungen identifiziert, die sich hierauf positiv auswirken. Als Ergebnis entsteht eine Systematisierung von Zusammenarbeitsformen und Rahmenbedingungen für einen erfolgreichen Erfahrungswissenstransfer. Eine Handlungsanleitung, die sich an Unternehmen richtet, beinhaltet Empfehlungen entlang der Zusammenarbeitsformen, der Zusammensetzung von Teams sowie der Einarbeitungsthematiken für neue Mitarbeiter. Die vorliegende Arbeit leistet damit einen Beitrag, wie der Wissenstransfer in Unternehmen verbessert werden kann, und liefert neue Perspektiven für die Zusammenarbeit als bedeutende Brücke für Erfahrungswissenstransfer.

Digital fundraising platforms diffused all over the globe and enabled entrepreneurs to exploit opportunities for which traditional financing is not yet available. While several new financing alternatives emerged, equity crowdfunding is the preferred choice for entrepreneurs with particularly innovative business models, high capital needs and growth aspirations. Although of great potential for entrepreneurs, equity crowdfunding involves severe information asymmetries because amateur funders with little investment experience invest in risky new ventures. Resolving this kind of asymmetric information is not only a condition for the success of entrepreneurial funding campaigns but also the durability of equity crowdfunding markets at all. This doctoral thesis comprises three scientific studies that shed light on information asymmetries in equity crowdfunding, its consequences, and solutions. The first study uses a mixed-method approach and explores 574 discussions that were initiated by investors to communicate with their peers and the entrepreneurs. The second study draws on a dataset of 221 funding campaigns and provides evidence for a strong signaling effect of prior financing that is of particular relevance for uncertain and less developed companies. Based on a cross-platform panel dataset of 13,531 funding days and a conjoint experiment with 127 amateur investors, the third study examines the relationship between information asymmetries and herd behavior. The results of the three empirical investigations contribute to an emerging research field and provide practical implications for entrepreneurs, platform providers, and policy makers.

This thesis examines stakeholder relationships in entrepreneurial ecosystems by focusing on the importance of sustainability, education and culture in this context. A three-staged research approach on the topic is employed. First, based on a systematic literature review the relevance of stakeholder theory for the creation of sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems that encourage sustainable entrepreneurship is examined as conceptual approach. Second, a qualitative empirical stance is used to investigate stakeholder involvement from the entrepreneurial ecosystem at 20 higher educational institutions in 19 European countries with regard to entrepreneurship education. Third, comparative, quantitative empirical research is conducted to identify cross-cultural and stakeholder-related factors that determine the perceived strength of the sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems in Austria and Germany. The findings of this thesis indicate that stakeholder theory, sustainability, education and culture all matter for developing strong entrepreneurial ecosystems. These results can be of interest for policy makers, entrepreneurship educaters, entrepreneurs and other entrepreneurial stakeholders, who aim at strengthening regional entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Nord Stream – a gas pipeline project situated in the Baltic Sea – has repeatedly attracted attention in public and political arena in recent years. The pipeline brings Russian gas directly to Germany and avoids transit states. The project was initiated by Chancellor Schröder and President Putin as well as several German and Russian energy companies in 2005. Two tubes have been operational since 2011 (Nord Stream 1). Two further tubes (Nord Stream 2) are now added, for which planning started in 2015 and completion is scheduled for 2019. The economic rationale of the pipeline is to reduce transportation costs, create capacities and avoid dependencies on transit states. This project is under intense debate for economic, political and security matters, whereby European and US stakeholders are participating in the discussion. At a time when the post-World War II order has come to an end and alliances are being reshaped, Nord Stream 2 evokes a fundamental international relations question: Has the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project divided Germany from its traditional partners and allies in its Russia policy in the long term? This dissertation discusses and illustrates the considerable foreign policy impact of the Nord Stream 2 project on Germany’s international relations in above context and offers possible policy routes forward.

Hierzu werden alle Bestandteile eines Blockchainsystems detailliert erläutert, um somit auch die Anwendungsgebiete einer Blockchain neben Kryptowährungen zu verstehen. Zudem soll durch eine ausführliche Betrachtung des Bitcoins die Frage beantwortet werden, ob dieser sich in Zukunft als ein allgemein anerkanntes Zahlungsmittel etablieren kann. Außerdem werden in dieser Arbeit alle rechtlichen Fragen rund um den Erwerb, Besitz und Handel des Bitcoins beantwortet. Im Ergebnis entsteht eine kritische Analyse der beiden Themen Blockchaintechnologie und Bitcoin. Es werden sowohl die Nachteile und die damit verbundenen Nutzungseinschränkungen aufgezeigt als auch die Vorteile und zukünftigen Einsatzpotenziale der Blockchain und Kryptowährung Bitcoin im privaten und gewerblichen Umfeld umfassend erläutert. Dies transformiert zugleich die Wertschöpfungsstruktur und die Geschäftsmodelle von Unternehmen. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, mit einem integrierten Managementinstrument die Umsetzung von Closed-Loop-Geschäftsmodellen zu unterstützen, um Wettbewerbsvorteile im turbulenten Marktumfeld durch eine effektive Rekonfiguration von Geschäftsmodellen an wandelnde Umwelten zu schaffen. Recycling- und Re-Use-Strategien werden als Mittel zur ressourceneffizienten Produktherstellung verstanden. Die spezifischen Anforderungen in Produktentwicklung, Produktion, Beschaffung und Vermarktung werden integriert betrachtet und aus dieser Gesamtschau werden die Komplexitätstreiber für Closed-Loop-Geschäftsmodelle identifiziert. Ein Geschäftsmodellkonzept als Managementinstrument wird entwickelt, von zwei qualitativen, empirischen Fallstudien – Kunststoffrecycling in der Automobilindustrie und Wiederverwendung von IT-Produkten – illustriert und die entsprechenden generischen Konfigurationen des Geschäftsmodellkonzepts für Recycling und Re-Use werden fallübergreifend analysiert. Für die Unternehmenspraxis relevantes Ergebnis der Arbeit ist eine auf dem entwickelten Geschäftsmodellkonzept basierende Beratungsmethodik, um neue Closed-Loop-Geschäftsmodelle zu designen. Diese Arbeit nimmt eine systemische Sichtweise des Geschäftsmodellökosystems ein und verbindet die Kreislaufwirtschaft und Nachhaltigkeitskonzepte mit Fragestellungen des strategischen Managements. Inhaber großer Vermögen haben in den letzten Jahren zunehmend eigene, von Banken unabhängige Strukturen zur Verwaltung ihres Vermögens, sogenannte Family Offices, etabliert. Diese Entwicklung resultiert aus dem Vertrauensverlust, den viele Banken im Zuge der Finanzkrise erlitten haben. Zudem wachsen weltweit die finanziellen Vermögenswerte bei zugleich zunehmender Komplexität der Finanzanlage. Die heterogenen Strukturen von Family Offices sind bislang kaum erforscht. Studien informieren zwar regelmäßig etwa über das Anlageverhalten dieser Organisationsstrukturen, geben jedoch kaum Aufschluss über die tatsächlich für den Erfolg relevanten Faktoren. Da viele Vermögensinhaber ursprünglich nicht aus dem Finanzanlagebereich stammen, ist die Kenntnis dieser Erfolgsfaktoren für ihr eigenes Family Office jedoch essenziell. Die in dieser Arbeit thematisierten erfolgsrelevanten Faktoren sind zunächst die Vertrauensbeziehungen von Family Offices. Zudem werden die Implikationen der Prinzipal-Agenten-Theorie auf die Gestaltung von Family Offices diskutiert. Ferner nutzt die Arbeit die Verhaltensökonomik, um Investitionsentscheidungen von Family Offices zu untersuchen. Schließlich wird deren Portfoliogestaltung thematisiert. Bridging the Gaps: Linking Research to Public Debates and Policy Making on Migration and Integration provides a unique set of testimonies and analyses of these questions by researchers and policy experts who have been deeply involved in attempts to link social science research to public policies. Bridging the Gaps argues that we must go beyond the prevailing focus on the research-policy nexus by considering how the media, public opinion, and other dimensions of public debates can interact with research and policy-processes.
