In life, we are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or approaching a storm. Where in life are you? The author's writings are 365 days of personal transparent testimonies of her life and her walk with God from religion to relationship backed up with scriptures, daily challenges, and instructions to help you have a closer walk with God and encourage you to seek him daily. Transformation from Religion to Relationship emphasizes the need to be mentored by the Holy Spirit, and walking in obedience to God. Anyone can be religious and walk through the motions of being a Christian, and wearing the tittle 'Christian'; however, one must make a conscious decision to intentionally seek after God and have a one on one relationship with him. This book is a daily blueprint on building a stronger relationship with God. Unlike traditional devotionals there are no months or dates. The first day you start your journey becomes your day 1. Do you desire a closer walk with God? Step out on faith and let your journey begin. Your Day 1 awaits you.

Divine Shift highlights the stories of five authors who God challenged and ultimately delivered from Religion to Relationship.Religion is a set of manmade rules, intertwined within the faith. In religion, however, there are sometimes more rules than faith. After all, the two are always at odds with each other. The rule says this is the way it is. It has always been done this way, and it must always be done the same way. Sometimes those rules cause invisible wounds. The problem with those invisible wounds is on the surface; they can be ignored that they are there until that same spot is pricked, and then, the wound will erupt. Sometimes, the eruption is what some have labeled as "church hurt," meaning something might have been distasteful, downright wrong, or just plain ignorance that happened in a church building. There is a tendency to relate those incidents to the church at large, and sometimes even to God Himself. Faith is just the opposite. It does not need rules, only believe, hope, love, and a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Lean into the small window of these stories and watch the transformation. There is no doubt that you will catch a glimpse of your story too.

In the past, church leaders have turned to small groups or other kinds of discipleship programs to encourage spiritual growth in their churches. Yet despite good intentions, the deeper spiritual life and transformation they had hoped for remained elusive. STIR calls church leaders to reclaim an essential, biblical truth—that the process of spiritual growth is more than a one-size-fits-all program, it happens best through intentional relationships with others in the body of Christ. Three distinct, sequential stages of spiritual development typically occur as people mature in their spiritual walk with Christ, and they need different kinds of relationships to support their growth through those different seasons. STIR describes those stages—learning together, journeying together, and following together—and shows how progress into and through these stages is best made in the context of relationships that change in nature over time. Readers will learn how to intentionally establish and strengthen the unique kinds of relationships that are catalytic for growth at each stage of their journey. Church leaders will come away with a new paradigm for encouraging spiritual formation in their local church by providing appropriate encouragement and support to people at all stages of growth.

Writing from a variety of contexts, the contributors to this volume describe the ways that conflict and their efforts to engage it constructively shape their work in classrooms and communities. Each chapter begins with a different experience of conflict—a physical confrontation, shooting and killing, ethnic violence, a hate crime, overt and covert racism, structural violence, interpersonal conflict in a family, and the marginalization of youth. The authors employ a variety of theoretical and practical responses to conflict, highlighting the role that faith, power, and relationships play in processes of transformation. As these teachers and ministers engage conflict constructively, they put forward novel approaches toward teaching, training, care, solidarity, and advocacy. Their stories demonstrate how conflict can serve as a site for positive change and transformation.

Jesus provides the vision: "Love each other as I have loved you" (John 15:12). Jesus loved generously, even lavishly, surprising people by loving without preconditions or limits. He pursued people to love them, bringing healing and freedom. We need loving relationships when we are struggling with life's challenges. Unfortunately, the Christian community has not always been a reliable source of support. The strategies used in an effort to be helpful often break relationship because they are rooted in fear, not love. We fear vulnerability, and we feel vulnerable when we go through times of distress or walk with someone who is. Our fear of vulnerability blocks our capacity to connect when we need it most. Restoring Relationship explores the roots of vulnerability and provides a framework for transforming fear into love through connection.Through stories and exercises, I introduce a new spiritual practice based on the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, demonstrating the congruence of IFS with biblical and theological truths. Common causes of distress, including loss, betrayal, addiction, and the emotional response to physical and mental illness, are explored through the lens of IFS and the new spiritual practice. Through this journey of connection, constraints to loving relationships are removed, restoring loving relationships with God, one another, and ourselves.

Personal transformation requires radical change. It has been said that the only thing you can count on in this world is that nothing stays the same. You can change your address, your job, your wardrobe, and your friends - you can even change your name - BUT your life will not transform until you change the way you think. Becoming a Christian ignites the process of transformation. Your relationship with God, eternal destination, and true self become new. Yet even with all these wonderful changes, we are left in a world, remain in a body, and are stuck with a mind that is pretty much the same. In this book, John Carter will teach you that God has designed a plan of genuine transformation for every person, one that goes far beyond the initial moment of salvation. Whether you realize it or not, you have the capacity and power to influence the direction of your life through a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.

This book is about the dramatic experience of religious conver sion. The phenomenon of religious conversion lies at the crossroad of several disciplines. As the title of this book indicates, my own interest in religious conversion is not sociological, historical, nor anthropolog ical. My primary interest is not even in the domain of the psychology of religion. That is, this book is not a comprehensive review of the social psychological factors that shape religious beliefs in general and religious conversions in particular. Rather, my primary interest is in the experience of conversion as an instance of a meaningful, sudden change in the course of individu al lives. Religious conversion is examined in this book prinwrily from the point of view of the psychology of the self. My aim is to elucidate the experience of religious conversion as a change in the self and to raise suggestions for the study of the self that derive from the data on religious conversion. This interest dictated the scope as well as the methods of the present investigation. Namely, I have chosen to study individuals who have indeed changed visibly as a result of their conversion. My inquiry was based on self-report, assuming the importance of the person's own point of view. Finally, my inquiry was semi-clinical, vii viii PREFACE based on the assumption of an underlying structure to the varieties of conversion experiences.
