In City/Art, anthropologists, literary and cultural critics, a philosopher, and an architect explore how creative practices continually reconstruct the urban scene in Latin America. The contributors, all Latin Americanists, describe how creativity—broadly conceived to encompass urban design, museums, graffiti, film, music, literature, architecture, performance art, and more—combines with nationalist rhetoric and historical discourse to define Latin American cities. Taken together, the essays model different ways of approaching Latin America’s urban centers not only as places that inspire and house creative practices but also as ongoing collective creative endeavors themselves. The essays range from an examination of how differences of scale and point of view affect people’s experience of everyday life in Mexico City to a reflection on the transformation of a prison into a shopping mall in Uruguay, and from an analysis of Buenos Aires’s preoccupation with its own status and cultural identity to a consideration of what Miami means to Cubans in the United States. Contributors delve into the aspirations embodied in the modernist urbanism of Brasília and the work of Lotty Rosenfeld, a Santiago performance artist who addresses the intersections of art, urban landscapes, and daily life. One author assesses the political possibilities of public art through an analysis of subway-station mosaics and Julio Cortázar’s short story “Graffiti,” while others look at the representation of Buenos Aires as a “Jewish elsewhere” in twentieth-century fiction and at two different responses to urban crisis in Rio de Janeiro. The collection closes with an essay by a member of the São Paulo urban intervention group Arte/Cidade, which invades office buildings, de-industrialized sites, and other vacant areas to install collectively produced works of art. El autor, diplomático, jurista, profesor universitario, gran figura de la aviación internacional. Jurista profundo y preciso, no hubo instituto en el campo del transporte aéreo que haya escapado a su análisis y evaluación. Su condición de publicista adquirió notoriedad y se afirmó visiblemente en la creación del Boletín Informativo de la Asociación Internacional de Transporte Aéreo Latinoamericano (AITAL), cuya acta fundacional data del mes de julio de 1991. Largamente esperada era su célebre Carta del Director, la que comprendía aspectos novedosos que cubrían toda la gama de los aspectos jurídicos y aerocomerciales de la aviación internacional. Su amplia versación se extendió hacia varios estudios sobre el régimen de los códigos compartidos, el fenómeno de la integración del transporte aéreo, y el campo de la responsabilidad y las alianzas, examinando los aspectos novedosos planteados por estos sistemas de explotación de los servicios aéreos. Miembro cospicuo del Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Aeronáutico y de la Aviación Comercial y del Espacio, integró su cuerpo directivo en la calidad de vocal y vicepresidente, aportando notables contribuciones doctrinarias en su condición de relator y tratadista en el campo de las instituciones aeronáuticas.

La cadena de suministro, Supply Chain -SC- es un flujo de productos que va desde el proveedor hasta el cliente final: end to end. En doble sentido, porque también hay retorno de información para saber las preferencias del cliente y efectuar la previsión de la demanda, y de productos, artículos no vendidos, devoluciones, productos que se han vuelto obsoletos. La logística versa sobre estos temas. Desde un punto de vista holístico, global, pero también focalizando los diversos procesos y fases de la SC: gestión de compras y aprovisionamiento,almacenaje, preparación de pedidos, distribución. Sabiendo que el óptimo global es mucho más que la suma de los óptimos parciales y que por eso hay que llegar a compromisos, trade off porque las accio El presente Tomo II, LOG═STICA OUTBOUND, versa sobre distribución: transporte, outsourcing, e-commerce y DUM,redes de distribución, comercio internacional e Incoterms. Y también se incluyen esos cinco temas transversales comentados, ya que de no hacerlo dejaría eltomo demasiado pobre para el lector que solo adquiriera dicho volumen. De modoque son también 10 capítulos de teoría. Hay, por lo tanto, cierto solapamiento, totalmente necesario que en conjunto alcanza alrededor del 25% del total dela obra. No obstante, el lector que quiera comprender a fondo qué es la logística en todas sus fases y su utilidad necesitará conocer ambos aspectos: la logística inbound y la logística outbound, amén de los temas transversales citados. Esta es una obra eminentemente práctica, por ello se presentan casos, maquillados por confidencialidad, numerosos ejercicios, temas de debate y abundantes problemas y análisis Excel. Todos incorporan una propuesta de solución queno tiene por qué ser la mejor pero sí suficientemente buena. Recuerde que logística no es matemáticas; la tecnología y la digitalización vuelven obsoletas antiguas soluciones, y estas varían en el tiempo y en el espacio. La obra presenta los últimos avances tecnológicos que dentro de unos años ya no serán tan novedosos y disruptivos. La idea es que el lector trabaje los temas a fondo para sacar el máximo provecho. Recuerde el dicho, más o menos literal, atribuidoa Confucio: "lo que se oye se olvida, lo que se lee se recuerda y lo que se hace se aprende". La obra está dirigida a estudiantes universitarios que cursenesta rama y a profesionales que quieran profundizar en diferentes aspectos dela SC y reforzar sus conocimientos teórico prácticos. El lector pone tiempo eilusión, por ello cuando haya terminado no solo de leer sino de trabajar la obra, verá ampliamente recompensado su esfuerzo. Al menos es lo que aseguramos ydeseamos los autores nes de uno repercuten en el resto.

The NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "Paleoclimatology and Paleometeorology: Modem and Past Patterns of Global Atmospheric Transport" (held at Oracle, Arizona, USA from November 17-19, 1987) brought together atmospheric chemists, physicists, and meteorologists who study the origin and transport of modem-day mineral and biological aerosols with geologists and paleobotanists who study the sedimentary record of eolian and hydrologic processes along with modelers who study and conceptualize the processes influencing atmospheric transport at present and in the past. Presentations at the workshop provided a guide to our present knowledge of the entire spectrum of processes and phenomena important to the generation, transport, and deposition of eolian terrigenous material that ultimately becomes part of the geologic record and the modeling techniques that used to represent these processes. The presenta tions on the geologic record of eolian deposition documented our present understanding of the na~e and causes of climate change on time scales of the last glacial ages (tens of thousands of years) to time scales over which the arrangement of continents, mountains, and oceans has changed sub stantially (tens of millions of years). There has been a growing recognition of the importance of global climatic changes to the future well-being of humanity. In particular, the climatic response to human alterations to the earth's surface and chemical composition has led to concern over the agricultural, ecological, and societal impacts of such potential global changes.
