In 1922, a joint commission of US and UK Unitarian Churches traveled to Transylvania after concerns over religions persecution arose in a prior visit in 1920. The Commission was gladdened to see an increase in liberty, but upset to discover that the Romanian government was not wholly supportive of not just Unitarians, but other religious organizations, such as the Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, and Lutherans. Namely, they were upset that endowments and land for these religious institutions was being taken back. In this work, Louis C. Cornish has compiled an interesting look at Transylvania during this time period. He concludes with a plea to support a Unitarian Mission House in Budapest, which, at the time, had over six thousand Unitarians, and a single church with a seating capacity of 250 to support them.

Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 2,0, University of Hannover (Englisches Seminar), course: Film Analysis, language: English, abstract: Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's Nosferatu - Eine Symphonie des Grauens is a horror film classic from 1922. In 1979 Werner Herzog produced a movie called Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht, in which he used Murnau's direction ideas. In this paper, I first analyse and compare the influence of colours and lighting on the atmosphere in both movies. Thereafter, I point out the differences in atmosphere between the silent movie with background music and the film with diegetic sounds. Finally, I focus on some differences in cinematography and editing in order to find out how different techniques evoke different feelings in the viewer. I do all this with the intention of proving that, even though advanced filming techniques have improved the understanding of details in movies, the genre of the horror film has not profited from the developments but, in contrast, runs the risk of appearing absurd or parodic.

On May 4-6, 2011 in cooperation with historians from Hungary and Israel, the Balassi Institute organized a conference entitled “Between Minority and Majority” on the history of the Hungarian and Jewish diaspora and the shifting meanings of notions of Hungarian and Jewish identity. The conference had the support of Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsis and József Pálinkás, the president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Aliza bin Noun, at the time the Israeli ambassador to Hungary, gave an opening speech. An exhibition of a selection of the pictures of photographer Doron Ritter was also held in connection with the conference. The exhibition, which was entitled From the Old Country to the New Home – Hungarian Speaking Jews in Israel, was held again in October the same year, in Zagreb, Croatia.
