A lo largo de esta obra el autor analiza en dos grandes bloques la teoría general del contrato de seguro, como, en un segundo momento, la parte especial o tipología más importante de seguros que conoce nuestra práctica. En la primera parte del trabajo se analizan la estructura del contrato de seguro tanto en sus caracteres como en sus elementos ya personales, ya reales u obligacionales, objeto o interés, causa o riesgo, documentación y condicionado, así como el contenido obligacional de la relación jurídica tanto ex ante como ex post del siniestro. En una segunda parte se desarrollan los grandes grupos o ámbitos de seguros que conoce nuestra praxis esbozando una nueva categoría de seguros de prestación o asistenciales y estudiando con cierta profundidad una veintena de seguros tanto contra daños, como de personas y asistenciales. Este Tratado, casi treinta años después de la entrada en vigor de la Ley de Contrato de Seguro y convencidos de una necesaria reforma a lo que en su momento fue una buena Ley, pretende ofrecer una visión tanto teórico como sobre todo práctica que de respuestas a los enormes interrogantes que el contrato de seguro depara en su quehacer diario.
