NATIONAL BESTSELLER • From the acclaimed author of Bird by Bird comes a personal, wise, very funny, and “life-affirming” book (People) that shows us how to find meaning and hope through shining the light of faith on the darkest part of ordinary life. "Anne Lamott is walking proof that a person can be both reverent and irreverent in the same lifetime. Sometimes even in the same breath." —San Francisco Chronicle Lamott claims the two best prayers she knows are: "Help me, help me, help me" and "Thank you, thank you, thank you." She has a friend whose morning prayer each day is "Whatever," and whose evening prayer is "Oh, well." Anne thinks of Jesus as "Casper the friendly savior" and describes God as "one crafty mother." Despite—or because of—her irreverence, faith is a natural subject for Anne Lamott. Since Operating Instructions and Bird by Bird, her fans have been waiting for her to write the book that explained how she came to the big-hearted, grateful, generous faith that she so often alluded to in her two earlier nonfiction books. The people in Anne Lamott's real life are like beloved characters in a favorite series for her readers—her friend Pammy, her son, Sam, and the many funny and wise folks who attend her church are all familiar. And Traveling Mercies is a welcome return to those lives, as well as an introduction to new companions Lamott treats with the same candor, insight, and tenderness. Lamott's faith isn't about easy answers, which is part of what endears her to believers as well as nonbelievers. Against all odds, she came to believe in God and then, even more miraculously, in herself. As she puts it, "My coming to faith did not start with a leap but rather a series of staggers."

“Faith Over Fear is an outcome of the attempt to answer several such questions that occur during the course of everyday lives of most of the people – “Am I doing the right thing?”, “is this where I want to be?”, “can I really do this ?”, “should I take this path?" so on and so forth; questions that don’t seem to have a very clear answer at the outset, but almost always become clearer as we dwell on them. But the process off dwelling on the questions, pondering the possibilities, is fraught with several other related emotional attributes that come to the fore – Fear, Insecurity, Negativity, Courage, Commitment, Happiness, Contentment, Positivity and above all Faith. The book dwells at length on each of these attributes, taking inspiration from some well-known examples of people who rose above fears and insecurities, overcame negativity, and displayed the courage to chase the path of faith over fears, identifying and pursuing success, displaying stellar commitment towards their intent, and pursued their chosen paths even in the face of great adversities. Light-hearted and easy to read, the book touches individually on each of the attributes of success, and is aimed at taking the reader on a short journey through the course that the thoughts take and how to interpret and manage the manifestation effectively.

In August of 1936, Max and Emily Bernhiem and their 5 children boarded a boat to Hong Kong, and eventually on to the Yunan Province of China. With very little money, the support of a small independent church in Spokane, WA, they set out on a mission from God, to spread the message of the gospel. Illness, another child, constant struggle, minimal support and eventual martyrdom awaited the Bernhiems, but still on nothing but their faith in our Lord they persevered. Thanks to Max and Emily, and the sacrifces they made, we will never know how many people came to know Christ. This book on Faith That Will Not Shrink chronicles the lives of Aaron W. Izeogu and Mary T. Izeogu—two of the pioneers of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ogba, the former Ahoada Division and the former eastern Nigeria. They were a God-fearing couple raised in non-Christian families in a rural village in southeastern Nigeria but accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ and became a beacon of light far beyond their community. He was known as faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a friend to many, and she was known in her community as a mother of all. Organized into eight chapters, the book describes the ancestral roots of A. W. Izeogu and Mary T. Izeogu; their parental background; the historic period and society in which they grew up in Ede, a rural community in southeastern Nigeria; and the various life challenges they faced growing up and lived to raise their eight children, some of who are in Nigeria and others in the United States of America. After a description of A. W. and M. T. Izeogu’s preparation for life of work and service for humanity and their faith walk with God, the book focuses on the family that raised their eight children (three men and five women). It further describes their love for God and humanity and giving back to their communities a positive influence even where and when they did not receive such goodwill and support to survive in their youthful years. Other subjects presented are forgiveness of those who hated and wronged them multiple times, their dependence on God to fight the battle for them, and their legacy of faith and trust in God in times of trouble. Chukudi V. Izeogu, Professor Emeritus at Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, Alabama, USA, is the second son of A. W. and M. T. Izeogu.
