Edizioni integrali Sono qui raccolti tre saggi fondamentali di quella vera e propria rivoluzione del pensiero che fu la psicoanalisi. Grazie a L’interpretazione dei sogni (pubblicata nel 1900) il misterioso territorio dell’inconscio cessava di essere un regno fumoso e indefinito da indagare senza bussola, per acquistare una geografia e una toponomastica ben precisi; il sogno diventava un labirinto di simboli da esplorare per illuminare gli angoli bui della coscienza. Nascevano i concetti di Super-io ed Es, insieme alle definizioni di rimosso, di nevrosi e psicosi, che oggi sono di pubblico dominio e sono usati e abusati quotidianamente. I Tre saggi sulla sessualità (1905) raggruppano un primo importante nucleo di ragionamenti sulle pulsioni sessuali, gli istinti, le trasformazioni della libido in infanzia e in adolescenza, le devianze, che tanta importanza hanno nell’articolata teoria psicoanalitica. Nell’Introduzione alla psicoanalisi, infine, è la viva voce di Freud stesso, in un ciclo di lezioni tenute a Vienna dal 1915 al 1917 (poi ampliato nel 1932), a offrire la più ampia e completa presentazione della psicoanalisi. Sigmund Freud padre della psicoanalisi, nacque a Freiberg, in Moravia, nel 1856. Autore di opere di capitale importanza (tra le quali citeremo soltanto L’interpretazione dei sogni, Tre saggi sulla sessualità, Totem e tabù, Psicopatologia della vita quotidiana, Al di là del principio del piacere), insegnò all’università di Vienna dal 1920 fino al 1938, quando fu costretto dai nazisti ad abbandonare l’Austria. Morì l’anno seguente a Londra, dove si era rifugiato insieme con la famiglia. Di Freud la Newton Compton ha pubblicato molti saggi in volumi singoli, la raccolta Opere 1886/1921 e L’interpretazione dei sogni - Tre saggi sulla sessualità - Introduzione alla psicoanalisi.
