Education and training programs have changed significantly during the past five years in most large U.S. corporations. Rapid technological change and the adoption by many companies of new strategies in response to such factors as heightened global competition and deregulation have imposed new skill and knowledge needs. A larger proportion of employees in all major job categories is now involved each year in formal training than five years ago. Growth in participation rates has been highest for managers and professionals as well as sales and marketing personnel. Despite the fact that diminished earnings have compelled some companies to reduce staff, most have increased the number of professionals engaged in training. As corporate leaders commit themselves to reducing or containing education and training costs, more attention is being paid to linking training programs to companies' strategic goals. The needs of departments and individuals are increasingly determined by joint trainer-manager explorations and performance appraisal procedures. New technologies, including video, computer-aided instruction, interactive video, and satellite broadcasting, are having important effects on training. Corporate departments are becoming better equipped to conduct training programs and are beginning to play a more active role in oversight of training activities throughout the company. (MN)

We are glad to have the opportunity to work together again in the planning and preparation of this edited volume on the evaluation of corporate training. Our respective professional careers have provided us with experience in this area, both as practitioners and as academicians. It is from both of these perspectives that we approached the preparation of this volume. Our purpose is to provide training professionals in business and industry, and students of human resources development with an overview of current models and issues in educational evaluation. The book is organized around three themes: context, models, and issues. The chapters in the context section are intended to provide the reader with an understanding of the social, organizational, and interpersonal factors that provide background and give meaning to evaluation practice. The models section brings together contributions from some of the most influential thinkers and practitioners in the field. The chapters in this section provide perspective on the dominant themes and emergent trends from individuals who have been, and continue to be, the drivers of those trends. Contributions to the issues section highlight some pervasive themes as well as illuminate new areas of concern and interest that will affect how we assess learning interventions in the organizations of today and tomorrow.

Executive Education After The Pandemic written by Santiago Iñiguez and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-29 with Business & Economics categories.

Business education and executive development has been one of the most fascinating industries in the world and the fastest growing segment of higher education over the past decades. Today, it is experiencing change on a scale unprecedented since the foundation of the first business schools in the early 20th Century, both due to changes in the corporate environment and also due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across all industries. In this context how do you create world-class educational and training institutions that can cope with those challenges, and be rigorous, vocationally relevant and suited to the corporate growing needs in this new fluid world? And how do you combine the very best of traditional academic values with new learning technologies to create an educational model that is fit to compete in the global economy, threatened today by populism, nationalism and economic turmoil? Yet, as daunting as it is, some institutions have already made significant progress in the journey. In this book Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, President of IE University, and Peter Lorange, former President of IMD, bring together contributions from leading figures from some of the world’s major universities. They share their experiences in addressing some of the challenges that the industry faces today, such as diversity and inclusion, employability, the role of AI and the advent of innovative new platforms. Packed with case studies of successful initiatives in business education and executive training, this is a truly visionary book. Authors anticipate future trends and share their in-depth knowledge of what it takes to build world-class educational providers – and their vision of higher education in the future.
