"This book analyses the challenges of globalisation and uncertainty impacting on working and learning at individual, organisational and societal levels. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is a very broad and increasingly mature research field. It encompasses a wide variety of research topics, ranging from the study of different pedagogical approaches and teaching/learning strategies and techniques, to the application of advanced technologies in educational settings such as the use of different kinds of mobile devices, sensors and sensor networks to provide the technical foundation for context-aware, ubiquitous learning. The TEL community has also been exploring the use of artificial intelligence tools and techniques for the development of intelligent learning environments capable of adapting to learners’ needs and preferences and providing learners with personalized learning experience. Recognizing the potential of online social networks, social media, and web-based social software tools as learning platforms for online education, the TEL community has devoted significant time and effort into researching how these popular technologies could be combined with appropriate pedagogical approaches to make learning experience more engaging, satisfying, and successful. Among the most important results of these research endeavors are personal learning environments that allow learners to create mash-ups of diverse social software tools based on their own needs and preferences as well as to create and maintain their online learning networks. Undeniably, technological advancement is making education more accessible to an increasing number of people worldwide. To fully exploit the huge benefit the technology is offering, the TEL community is exploring effective approaches for adapting learning resources to address language, generation, and cultural specificities. Aiming to make learning accessible to all, the community has also focused on the development of solutions for learners with special needs. Finally, it should be noted that all the above mentioned research efforts of the TEL community are finding their applications in different learning contexts and domains, including formal education and informal learning, as well as workplace learning in small, medium, and large organizations. Since the scope of TEL research is constantly evolving, the above given overview of the current research efforts does not aim to be exhaustive by any means. Instead, its purpose is to give some insights into the breadth of research topics and challenges that this edited book aims to cover. The book comprises 14 chapters, which are topically organized into several sections. However, this division of chapters into sections is not strictly definitive as each of the chapters itself presents a comprehensive research work that often spans across diverse TEL areas and thus could be categorized into more than one section of the book.

Social welfare is riddled with ingrained problems that have already defeated all standard approaches, and reform calls for counterintuitive action. Digital Social Innovation (DSI) is primarily about promoting grassroots initiatives to address localized societal problems, and is not normally talked about in relation to welfare reform, but perhaps social innovation initiatives, with their localized and case-based approach, could help to solve the enormous structural problems faced by our welfare democracies today. This book addresses the potential and implications of DSI for the reform of the European welfare state. The 14 papers collected here focus on key issues, such as the nature of social innovation and its effects; scaling up to address structural problems and make systemic change; new social risks and challenges; the role of digital thinking and emerging technologies; public governance approaches; tolerance of institutions; integrating innovation in the welfare system; and the empowerment of marginalized citizens. These topics are examined from an integrated and multi-disciplinary perspective, taking into consideration not only current EU debate on policy trends for social protection, but also the nature of digital transformation and its effects on social change. The book also highlights barriers to adoption, as well as the potential limitations and failures of this emerging approach. Digital social innovation is an emerging discipline that deserves more attention from policy makers and more resources from government. Vor allem der demografische Faktor aber auch weitere Umweltbedingungen werden zu einem scharfen Wettbewerb um Talente fhren - und diese Talente sind die fr viele Unternehmen entscheidenden Wettbewerbsfaktoren. Deshalb stellt sich allgemein die Frage, wie dieser Wettbewerb zu gewinnen ist, und speziell, ob das Vergtungssystem wie oft vermutet der wesentliche Faktor der Arbeitgeberattraktivit„t ist. Die Untersuchung besch„ftigt sich mit genau dieser Frage. Ausgangspunkt sind die bekannten demografischen Entwicklungen sowie die abnehmende Attraktivit„t einiger Branchen - beispielsweise der Finanzindustrie - in Verbindung mit der These ,Eine hohe Vergtung fhrt unmittelbar zu einer hohen Attraktivit„t als Arbeitgeber'. Herausgearbeitet wird, was unter ,Arbeitgeberattraktivit„t' zu verstehen ist und wie sie in das bekanntere Konzept der Arbeitgebermarke eingebunden ist. Anreize und verwandte Konstrukte werden in ihrer Entstehung und Wirkung beschrieben, wobei besonders auf Motive und Einstellungen eingegangen wird. Darauf aufbauend wird dargestellt, welche Attraktivit„tsfaktoren infrage kommen und wie der derzeitige empirische und theoretische Erkenntnisstand zur Arbeitgeberattraktivit„t ist. Unterschieden wird dabei zwischen potenziellen Mitarbeitern und bereits im Unternehmen Besch„ftigten. Untersucht wird, welche Wirkung der Attraktivit„tsfaktor ,monet„re Vergtung' in all seinen Facetten aufweist. Daneben wird auch auf nichtmonet„re Anreize eingegangen. Herausgearbeitet wird die Bedeutung der relativen H”he der Vergtung. Dabei geht der Autor besonders darauf ein, welche Elemente der Vergtung die Arbeitgeberattraktivit„t positiv beeinflussen. Aufgezeigt wird auch, welche Grenzen des Einsatzes der Vergtung erkennbar sind. Daraus lassen sich Handlungsempfehlungen ableiten, wie dem Ziel der Arbeitgeberattraktivit„t durch eine entsprechende Gestaltung des Vergtungssystems Rechnung getragen werden kann.
