The first two chapters of this book offer a modern, self-contained exposition of the elementary theory of triangulated categories and their quotients. The simple, elegant presentation of these known results makes these chapters eminently suitable as a text for graduate students. The remainder of the book is devoted to new research, providing, among other material, some remarkable improvements on Brown's classical representability theorem. In addition, the author introduces a class of triangulated categories"--the "well generated triangulated categories"--and studies their properties. This exercise is particularly worthwhile in that many examples of triangulated categories are well generated, and the book proves several powerful theorems for this broad class. These chapters will interest researchers in the fields of algebra, algebraic geometry, homotopy theory, and mathematical physics.

Over the last few decades triangulated categories have become increasingly important, to the extent that they can now be viewed as a unifying theory underlying major parts of modern mathematics. This 2010 collection of survey articles, written by leading experts, covers fundamental aspects of triangulated categories, as well as applications in algebraic geometry, representation theory, commutative algebra, microlocal analysis and algebraic topology. These self-contained articles are a useful introduction for graduate students entering the field and a valuable reference for experts.

In recent years, triangulated categories have proved very successful as a common mathematical framework for formulating important advances in various fields, and at the same time for the interaction between different subject areas. The purpose of the symposium was therefore not only the study of triangulated categories in itself, but rather fruitful exchanges between disciplines. The symposium brought together established researchers who have made important contributions involving triangulated categories. Many participants came from representation theory, but there were also participants with backgrounds in commutative algebra, geometry and algebraic topology.

Categories and sheaves appear almost frequently in contemporary advanced mathematics. This book covers categories, homological algebra and sheaves in a systematic manner starting from scratch and continuing with full proofs to the most recent results in the literature, and sometimes beyond. The authors present the general theory of categories and functors, emphasizing inductive and projective limits, tensor categories, representable functors, ind-objects and localization.

Fukaya Categories And Picard Lefschetz Theory written by Paul Seidel and has been published by European Mathematical Society this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Mathematics categories.
The central objects in the book are Lagrangian submanifolds and their invariants, such as Floer homology and its multiplicative structures, which together constitute the Fukaya category. The relevant aspects of pseudo-holomorphic curve theory are covered in some detail, and there is also a self-contained account of the necessary homological algebra. Generally, the emphasis is on simplicity rather than generality. The last part discusses applications to Lefschetz fibrations and contains many previously unpublished results. The book will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in symplectic geometry and mirror symmetry.

Model categories are used as a tool for inverting certain maps in a category in a controllable manner. They are useful in diverse areas of mathematics. This book offers a comprehensive study of the relationship between a model category and its homotopy category. It develops the theory of model categories, giving a development of the main examples.

This volume contains the proceedings of the CATS4 Conference on Higher Categorical Structures and their Interactions with Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology and Algebra, held from July 2-7, 2012, at CIRM in Luminy, France. Over the past several years, the CATS conference series has brought together top level researchers from around the world interested in relative and higher category theory and its applications to classical mathematical domains. Included in this volume is a collection of articles covering the applications of categories and stacks to geometry, topology and algebra. Techniques such as localization, model categories, simplicial objects, sheaves of categories, mapping stacks, dg structures, hereditary categories, and derived stacks, are applied to give new insight on cluster algebra, Lagrangians, trace theories, loop spaces, structured surfaces, stability, ind-coherent complexes and 1-affineness showing up in geometric Langlands, branching out to many related topics along the way.

Lecture Notes On Motivic Cohomology written by Carlo Mazza and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Mathematics categories.
The notion of a motive is an elusive one, like its namesake "the motif" of Cezanne's impressionist method of painting. Its existence was first suggested by Grothendieck in 1964 as the underlying structure behind the myriad cohomology theories in Algebraic Geometry. We now know that there is a triangulated theory of motives, discovered by Vladimir Voevodsky, which suffices for the development of a satisfactory Motivic Cohomology theory. However, the existence of motives themselves remains conjectural. This book provides an account of the triangulated theory of motives. Its purpose is to introduce Motivic Cohomology, to develop its main properties, and finally to relate it to other known invariants of algebraic varieties and rings such as Milnor K-theory, etale cohomology, and Chow groups. The book is divided into lectures, grouped in six parts. The first part presents the definition of Motivic Cohomology, based upon the notion of presheaves with transfers. Some elementary comparison theorems are given in this part. The theory of (etale, Nisnevich, and Zariski) sheaves with transfers is developed in parts two, three, and six, respectively. The theoretical core of the book is the fourth part, presenting the triangulated category of motives. Finally, the comparison with higher Chow groups is developed in part five. The lecture notes format is designed for the book to be read by an advanced graduate student or an expert in a related field. The lectures roughly correspond to one-hour lectures given by Voevodsky during the course he gave at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton on this subject in 1999-2000. In addition, many of the original proofs have been simplified and improved so that this book will also be a useful tool for research mathematicians.
