This book presents a selection from papers, including some speeches and book chapters, published by Ernst Hirsch Ballin in English since 1991. His work, both in academic life and in several public offices, expresses an awareness of the impact of a lack of public trust and trustworthiness concerning respect for human rights and the rule of law, and the effects that this often has in cross-border relations. The papers, starting with a programmatic speech on 'investing in confidence' at a symposium on police and judicial cooperation in the EU, were written against the backdrop of Hirsch Ballin's quest for institutions and practices that respect and promote human rights within and beyond national constitutional arrangements, and that seek to reduce the risks of exclusions and injustices both for vulnerable individuals and groups, as well as for future generations. The collection focuses on constitutional and administrative law and, more specifically, on the relationship between these legal domains and the constitutional principles of the rule of law, democracy and human rights. Alongside this selection of work celebrating Hirsch Ballin's work and retirement, Boom juridisch has also published a collection of papers in Dutch entitled Recht doorgronden. Keuze uit wetenschappelijk werk over publiekrecht, rechtsstaat en beleid 1993-2021.

If God answered my dire prayer to be used mightily, would I be willing to step up to the plate by listening, obeying, and trusting in Him? Or would I tell Him what He was asking for is too much? The story is about answered prayers, listening to the Lord, obeying His Words, and trusting in Him for protection. The remnant group of believers lived in an exceedingly small northern village named Bethel, nestled between several mountain ranges in the year 2027. The Christian community always prayed at their gatherings and services that God would use them mightily. One day, the Lord spoke to the group as an answer to their prayer. The Lord asked them to "stand their ground" for the Lord and to defend the village. As it became apparent that the Lord was truly talking about physically defending the village, the membership dwindled down to seventy mostly aged members. The various believers in the groups utilized their earthly talents based upon God's divine plan. The six days of battles were brutal, but the Lord instructed them to keep their focus upon Him and not their victories. "In all things, give praise and glory to the Lord for the victory belongs to the Lord." When one wants to be used mightily by the Lord, one needs to be ready to be a sacrificial lamb and respond with trust, and through faith, courage and protection will be granted for those who obey.

What if you never had to be afraid of your life falling apart? What if you lost everything and you could count it all joy? Imagine having to not to fake it till you make it or quote it till you make it. Trusting God should never be hard, but the issue is not that we all have trust issues, whether big or small. Could it be that we are blind to see how God sees our issues and trials? In this book, Roy reveals God's heart towards every trial we face. His desire for us as His children, is to have a trust without borders. Why? Because our trials are not borders of separation... they are bridges of invitation.

In 1980, Pamela Alexander and her husband, Jimmy, felt led by God to open a bed and breakfast and were led to Psalm 37 within a short time of that calling. Through this passage, they learned how to wait upon the Lord and how best to prepare and build a B&B. Meanwhile, they trained in the art of hospitality and grew in His wisdom. Thirteen years later, they opened the Alexander Bed & Breakfast Acres (ABBA). Trust without Borders presents an exploration of Psalm 37. In this study, Pamela examines how God wants us to trust Him with all of our being, showing that when we worship Him in that obedience, He blesses us abundantly with joy and peace. She reveals that trust is our gift back to God, and that He is pleased by the beauty of a trusting heart, and that trust demonstrates the meaning of living by grace rather than works. She also considers these questions: Is it trust only when we get our way? How do trust and entering His rest comingle? Why is gratefulness a foremost quality of a trusting follower of Christ? Join Pamela in fellowship and in study of Gods Word, and learn how to trust God with everything and every need of your life.
