A tsunami is a series of water waves that is caused when a large volume of a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced. Research on historical earthquakes and tsunamis in the Iberian Peninsula has made great strides in recent years, from diverse scientific fields ranging from geology to archaeology.
