He may have resurrected and ruled Egypt as "King Ay" (Impersonation) for 3 to 4 years more, while Horemhab was investigating the North for Hittites on the border with Syria. This was because Queen Ankhesenamon, suspecting an affair of her husband, was caught writing letters to the Hittite King, asking him for a son to marry to become Pharaoh of Egypt. So Horemhab left Egypt to investigate this. Meanwhile Tut died, resurrected, and ruled as King Ay, while still married to Queen Ankhesenamon."
