The Cookie Stand takes place during the Christmas holidays. Macy is a college student who comes home during her Christmas break bringing her discouragement with her. She has seen a lot of wild, dorm life while living on campus and is dismayed by the world outside of the Christian home where she was raised. Macy lives with her Aunt Rachel following the death of her mother several years earlier. As more family members arrive, Macy's concerns are brought to light, a family anecdote is shared and encouragement is given. Macy's spirits are lifted and with new resolve, she decides to make a stand of her own. Warm characters and inspiring conversation, will keep your audience interested and entertained throughout this 15-20 minute drama. Goody Two-Shoes is a simply staged play approximately ten minutes in duration. Though only requiring two actresses and very little staging or props, this easily produced play is not to be taken lightly. The poignant conversation between the two characters may cause the audience to re-think their motives and inspiration when attempting to be of help to their neighbors.

The plays incorporate humor, drama, and the Christmas programs are set to include music if desired. "Bethlehem's Inn" tells of a young inn keeper in ancient Bethlehem who is eager to make a fortune and move. His plans to expand his inn and move are rocked when he denies a room to two very special guests. "We Got Dat" is a modern story of a storekeeper who forces his employees to work on Christmas Eve. When he discovers an employee has been facing hardships at home he reconsiders the meaning of Christmas. "The Best Christmas Play Ever" focuses on a pastor trying to put on the best Christmas play his church has ever had but can't come up with any good ideas. Finally "Jerusalem News Channel" is a humorous telling of what the events around the death and resurrection of Jesus would have been like if the modern news media had been there to cover it.

These two Christmas plays by Christian novelist Regina Russell will bring the real meaning of Christmas to the forefront of any Christian women's group. "Jesus' Christmas List" and "The Friendship Bomb" can be simply or as elaborately staged as desired for your group's needs. In "Jesus' Christmas List" a woman, in search of Christmas's true meaning, finds the perfect gift for Jesus. This play is centered around one strong actress who has the major role and does most of the speaking. The other actresses in the play, except for the Narrator, only speak a few lines apiece. In "The Friendship Bomb" a group of women find a unique way to help someone through the holidays who is going through a difficult time. This play has a more diverse selection of speaking parts for several different actresses. Each of these plays can be done by groups with as few as seven women or many more as each has Christmas scenes that require few stage props or if more staging and extras are desired, the scenes can be easily enlarged by the addition of shoppers and more elaborate scenes (for ex: the scene in the mall in Jesus' Christmas List could be expanded upon as little or as much as wanted.) Both plays seek to glorify Jesus as they compel your audience to seek His presence at the celebration of His birth. Included with the book is a code name and email address to write to if you wish to receive a copy of the plays. Upon receiving code word and your email address, a downloadable copy of this book will be emailed back to you. Then, the plays may be downloaded by the purchaser of the book for making copies. It is requested that this code word is only used for the particular group it was purchased for but after purchase, the plays may be copied as much as is needed.

They Worshiped Him written by Gail K. Keffer and has been published by CSS Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Drama categories.

In today's "hurry-up" world, it seems we rarely take the time to think of other people and "walk a mile in the other man's shoes." If we did, what would we see? They Worshiped Him revisits the nativity story from the perspective of the people who were actually there. In this dramatic retelling, we glimpse the innermost thoughts and feelings of some of the very common people whose lives were forever changed by a most extraordinary event. What did the shepherds feel? What did others think of them? Were they perceived as "eccentric"? And what about the wise men who followed the star? Did they have an entire entourage, or did people treat them like three dottering old men? And what about Mary and Joseph; how did this unusual pregnancy affect them? They Worshiped Him answers many of these questions while reminding us of the biblical characters' humanity. The singing of favorite seasonal carols is woven into the drama, encouraging audience participation. And it's an adaptable work that can be staged as elaborately or simply as you wish. While there are speaking parts for 12 angels, 5 animals, 6 shepherds, 3 magi, the innkeeper, Mary, Joseph, and a narrator, roles can easily be combined for use with any size congregation. Staging instructions are included. Far too many plays being marketed to churches today are not well written, place unreasonable requirements on the space and talent available in the average local church, and contain biblically inaccurate statements and characterizations. Gail Keffer's play They Worshiped Him doesn't present any of those problems. It is written in a flexible manner that makes it easy to adapt to a worship service, dinner theater, or a feature-length play for an annual Christmas production. It also does a magnificent job of presenting a biblically accurate version of the nativity story that can be heard, understood, and remembered by all of God's children.... We used this play two years ago, and people are still talking about it. One comment I heard was that the play "made Mary seem like a real person and not a stained-glass Madonna who's out of touch with the realities people like us face." Kari Turner McClellan Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church Levittown, Pennsylvania Gail K. Keffer is a graduate of Slippery Rock University (B.S. and M.Ed.). An active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Keffer is a former schoolteacher who has run a needlework design business and is currently the proprietor of The Amish Peddler, a business specializing in the sale of fine Amish-made furniture.

In the gospel of John, the writer ends the story by stating the purpose of writing the Gospel. This purpose is recorded in verses 30 and 31 of chapter 20. Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. Based on this ending, it stands to reason that for even the other Bible stories which are included in scripture, many details have been left out because the respective writers can say so much and no more. Have you ever wondered what details might have been left out of the Christmas narrative as we know them? It is that kind of curiosity which sparked the imaginative thoughts that brought these two Christmas musicals together. The characters were normal human beings with emotions. If you think of it, Joseph would have been jealous and angry when he thought that Mary was unfaithful to him. That kind of emotion might have led to a verbal showdown between the two until the angel appeared to Joseph directly. In turn, Mary must have been pretty distraught that Joseph kept accusing her wrongly and that he continued to question her integrity. Why was he going to break off the engagement? Did he not trust and have confidence in the innocent virgin? Both Mary and Joseph would have had parents too, so how did they come into the picture? What were their immediate thoughts when news of the miracle pregnancy unfolded? There might have been uncertainty and confusion, even among the people of God. One may even assume that there may have been gossips in that society who, like some persons in this day and age, just enjoyed embellishing stories which sounded juicy. At the other end of the spectrum, one wonders what the atmosphere may have been like in the palace of Herod. Was it all anger and jealousy which prevailed, or did the raw human emotions of nervousness and anxiety come to the fore? A Dream Come True and Believe Me, I Believe depicts the Christmas narrative fully as described in the Bible. However, some of these thoughts and questions come out very clearly during the plot. In a combination of poetry and drama, music and dance, the story with the added imaginative scenes unfolds with all these elements interwoven into one continuous narrative. The overall Christian message comes out clearly and very strongly toward the end of each musical, and while the plots may differ, they both carry the underlying theme of evangelism as persons are encouraged to believe in this Jesus and give their lives to Him.
