Hij heeft een lichtblauwe Lada gescoord en daarmee begint een tocht zonder landkaart over het Duitse platteland in hartje zomer. Tsjik wil graag naar Walachije waar zijn opa woont,maar er is in de hele provincie Brandenburg geen enkele wegwijzer naar Walachije te vinden. Wat volgt, is een reis die zo grotesk, droevig, dramatisch en grappig is dat je geregeld niet meer verder kunt lezen van het lachen, maar evenmin kunt ophouden. In de lege wereld achter Berlijn is blijkbaar niemand echt in vakantiestemming. Niet de knappe Tatjana, op wier verjaardagsfeest zij niet uitgenodigd zijn, niet WO II veteraan Fricke die een uitstekende schutter is, niet de man aan de benzinepomp en helemaal niet het varken op de autosnelweg. Maik vertelt hun vakantieverhaal zonder opsmuk met het temperament van een veertienjarige, argeloos en wereldwijs. Tsjik is een hartverwarmende en hartverscheurende avonturenroman die maar één nadeel heeft: dat hij maar 256 bladzijden telt en dus veel te snel uit is. Maar zo gaat dat nu eenmaal met verboden tochtjes in een gejatte auto.
