El compromiso de la Compañía de Jesús en el quehacer universitario se expresa en el deseo de contribuir efectivamente a hacer posible una vida digna, plena, para todos y cada uno de los seres humanos, en el presente y en el futuro. Para lograr una vida digna, una vida plena, se requiere la reconciliación. Por ello, la Universidad jesuita debe ser una fuente de vida, comprometida a fondo en los procesos de reconciliación. El padre general Arturo Sosa, S. J., en su conferencia: “La universidad fuente de vida reconciliada”, del 11 de julio de 2018, en la Asamblea Mundial de Instituciones Jesuitas de Educación Superior (IAJU), señaló: La Congregación General 36.ª de la Compañía de Jesús realiza una invitación a enfocar la misión de las universidades desde la perspectiva de compañeros en una misión de reconciliación y de justicia. “Nuestras obras educativas, a todos los niveles, y nuestros centros de comunicación e investigación social tienen que ser una ayuda para la formación de hombres y mujeres comprometidos con la reconciliación, que sean capaces de superar los obstáculos que a ella se oponen y proponer soluciones. El apostolado intelectual debe ser fortalecido para ayudar a transformar nuestras culturas y nuestras sociedades”. (CG 36, D. 1, n.º 34) Para cumplir a cabalidad esta invitación, se convoca a que la Universidad jesuita se conciba a sí misma como una institución puesta al servicio de la vida reconciliada. En efecto, señala el padre general, “la universidad fomenta procesos de creación de conocimiento y acompaña procesos de formación humana en los que, junto a los conocimientos, trasmite el sentido de la vida reconciliada y en paz”. Ahora bien, los procesos universitarios que transmiten el sentido de la vida reconciliada y en paz se realizan tanto en contextos particulares y concretos de las instituciones universitarias que cuentan con perfiles académicos propios y de desarrollo de sus actividades de formación, generación de conocimiento y de transferencia a la sociedad de su saber como en los devenires de las comunidades en las que aquellas se insertan. En este sentido, los procesos universitarios de construcción de paz y reconciliación exigen la intervención en territorios y con comunidades 16 CONFERENCIA INTERNACIONAL DE RECONCILIACIÓN IGNACIANA DE LA CRISIS… concretas, así como abordajes inter y transdisciplinarios que deben ser acompañamientos académicos de largo aliento. Asimismo, las iniciativas universitarias que impulsan procesos de reconciliación tienen la particularidad de construir puentes de interculturalidad en el interior de las comunidades, al elaborar una conciencia crítica que reconoce la cultura de otros de forma enriquecedora. Esta forma de relacionamiento tiene como instrumento significativo la cooperación entre las Universidades jesuitas. Continúa el padre general: La colaboración es también una característica fundamental del modo de proceder en la vida cotidiana de la universidad. […] Mucho camino tenemos por delante para encarnar más profundamente este modo de proceder en cada una de las universidades y mejorar sustantivamente la colaboración de las universidades entre sí y con otras instituciones, proyectos y grupos que luchan por los mismos objetivos. A partir de estas exhortaciones, la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana trabajaron bajo la orientación y el estímulo del padre Michael J. Garanzini, S. J. en la organización de la Conferencia Internacional de Reconciliación Ignaciana de la Crisis y el Enfrentamiento a la Sanación y el Perdón: ¿Cómo es Posible la Reconciliación?, que se realizó del 10 al 12 de mayo de 2021, en modalidad virtual, desde Madrid. En esta, además de abordajes conceptuales sobre la reconciliación, se presentaron experiencias consolidadas en territorios o con comunidades específicas de construcción de paz y reconciliación de instituciones vinculadas a la Compañía de Jesús. Este encuentro fue también la oportunidad para vincular diferentes perspectivas sobre la reconciliación, de modo que permitió unirnos como comunidad, más aún en el contexto actual, en el que el perdón, el amor, la reflexión y la paz son tan necesarios. Así, resalto los aportes de los keynote speakers John Lederach (vídeo en la sesión inaugural), Pedro Enrique Valenzuela Gruesso, Manuel Ramiro Muñoz, James Hanvey Sj, Theresa S. Bethancourt, Pedro Walpole, y Jacques Haers SJ como relator, quienes, desde sus diferentes disciplinas, dieron paso al diálogo en torno al tema que nos hoy nos mueve. Tras tender estos primeros puentes, la Conferencia también fue el escenario para que diversas propuestas epistemológicas entablaran un diálogo, de cara a los múltiples retos que enfrentamos, en los que urge un abordaje reflexivo, interdisciplinario y propositivo. En este sentido, pudimos ver cómo la reconciliación permea varios espacios de nuestra vida. Los participantes nos dieron muestras de ello, al analizar la pertinencia de conceptos como perdón, resiliencia y mediación en espacios como la educación, los diferentes PRESENTACIÓN 17 conflictos sociales y políticos, la Iglesia y la espiritualidad. Asimismo, revelaron de qué manera todo ello se podía ver atravesado por la multidisciplinariedad y el trabajo con el otro, ese que bien podría ser un hermano, un amigo, un vecino, un colega o un excluido. Así, se presentaron cuarenta y una experiencias en paz y reconciliación, provenientes de países como Australia, Canadá, Colombia, Costa de Marfil, Ecuador, E.E. U.U., España, Filipinas, Francia, India, Italia, Kenia, Líbano, México, Ruanda, Uganda, Rusia y Venezuela, que fueron previamente evaluadas por un comité científico internacional de veintiún expertos de todos los continentes. Este comité aseguró el cumplimiento algunas de las siguientes dimensiones: un marco conceptual sobre reconciliación, la aplicación en una comunidad y en el territorio, su carácter interdisciplinario, haber tenido un proceso de evaluación o reflexión y haberse documentado sus resultados. Las experiencias y los aportes presentados en la Conferencia giraron en torno a las relaciones entre la reconciliación, la educación, los conflictos sociales y políticos y el papel de la Iglesia, sin dejar de las dimensiones multidisciplinares y espirituales. Todo esto con el fin de contribuir a la pedagogía con énfasis en reconciliación ignaciana que promulgan las universidades jesuitas. La reconciliación es una tarea que concierne a la construcción de sociedades más equitativas, las cuales avanzan en sus procesos sociales, a su ritmo, y permiten vislumbrar un futuro más esperanzador, en los terrenos de una paz genuina. En esta tarea titánica de carácter comunal, la labor de los centros universitarios no es menor y sí es decisiva en los procesos educativos de reparación y no repetición. Estas propuestas pedagógicas permiten construir un conocimiento contextualizado de las comunidades, que se encamina a proponer soluciones reales. Las memorias de la Conferencia que aquí presentamos tienen el fin de contribuir a que las conversaciones de perdón se den y se multipliquen, de modo que la reconstrucción del tejido social deje de ser una utopía para convertirse en una posibilidad palpable. Sin más, esta Conferencia fue el resultado de esa unión por la que tanto propende la reconciliación, pues no debemos olvidar que parte del proceso para llegar a ella nace del amor y de una meta por trascender todo aquello que nos divide y que, en este caso, se hace desde unas universidades comprometidas y de la mano del legado espiritual de san Ignacio. Archbishop Angelo Roncali (later Pope John XXIII) read True and False Reform during his years as papal nuncio in France and asked, A reform of the church 'is such a thing really possible?" A decade later as pope, he opened the Second Vatican Council by describing its goals in terms that reflected Congar's description of authentic reform: reform that penetrates to the heart of doctrine as a message of salvation for the whole of humanity, that retrieves the meaning of prophecy in a living church, and that is deeply rooted in history rather than superficially related to the apostolic tradition. Pope John called the council not to reform heresy or to denounce errors but to update the church's capacity to explain itself to the world and to revitalize ecclesial life in all its unique local manifestations. Congar's masterpiece fills in the blanks of what we have been missing in our reception of the council and its call to "true reform." Yves Congar, OP, a French Dominican who died in 1995, was the most important ecclesiologist in modern times. His writings and his active participation in Vatican II had an immense influence upon the council documents. With a few other contemporaries, Congar pioneered a new style of theological research and writing that linked the great tradition of Scripture and the Fathers to contemporary pastoral questions with lucidity and passion. His key concerns were the unity of the church, lay apostolic life, and a revival of the church's theology of the Holy Spirit. He was named a cardinal by Pope John Paul II in recognition of his profound contributions to the Second Vatican Council. Paul Philibert, OP, has taught pastoral theology in the United States and abroad. He is a Dominican friar of the Southern Province. His translation of a collection of Congar's essays on the liturgy has recently been published by Liturgical Press under the title At the Heart of Christian Worship. His book The Priesthood of the Faithful: Key to a living Church (Liturgical Press, 2005) reflects the ecclesiology of Yves Congar and his Vision of the apostolic life of the faithful."
