This book is an attempt by Fr. Romero to share some of the scriptural and historical "evidence" that the contemporary Roman Catholic Church and the Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ circa 30 A. D. are one and the same. Using some of the commonly-heard misconceptions about the Catholic Faith as points of departure, Fr. Romero examines various key passages from Scripture, looks at historical documentation found in secular sources and, at the end of each chapter, presents quotes from the writings of the first generations of Christians to show that modern-day Catholic beliefs and practices have solid precedence in the beliefs and practices of the early Church.

The title ‘the Son of Man’ evokes the different aspects of the whole Christ: the humanity and divinity of Christ, his earthly ministry, his sacramental presence, and the eschatological consummation of his work. It is also a term of relationship, suggestive of both the relations constitutive of the life of the Holy Trinity, and also of the way that our knowing and loving the Son of Man is always an invitation to communion - with the Triune God, as the Body of Christ, and for the life of the world. Contributors to this collection explore some of the many registers of the mystery of Christ, both historically and thematically. Contributors include some of today’s leading theological thinkers, including N.T. Wright, Rowan Williams, Lydia Schumacher, Kallistos Ware and Oliver O’Donovan. With poetic reflections from Malcolm Guite. Chapters include: "Son of Man and the New Creation" (N.T. Wright), "The Son of Man in the Gospel of John" (John Behr), "Sound and Silence in Augustine’s Christological Exegesis" (Carol Harrison), "According to the Flesh?: The Problem of Knowing Christ in Chalcedonian Perspective" (Ian Mcfarland), "Christ and the Moral Life" (Oliver O'Donovan), "Christ and the Poetic Imagination" (Malcolm Guite)

This eBook edition of "The Religious Affections (Unabridged)" has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. A Treatise Concerning Religious Affections is a famous publication written in 1746 by Jonathan Edwards describing his philosophy about the process of Christian conversion in Northampton, Massachusetts, during the First Great Awakening, which emanated from Edwards' congregation starting in 1734. Edwards wrote the Treatise to explain how true religious conversion to Christianity occurs. Edwards describes how emotion and intellect both play a role, but "converting grace" is what causes Christians to "awaken" to see that forgiveness is available to all who have faith that Jesus' sacrifice atones for all sins.

Dallas Willard writes "Deeper Experiences is the one book other than the Bible that has most influenced me. ... Readers should take from Lawson's book the simple but profound truth that they, too, can know by experience the truths of Christ and His kingdom that are set forth in the Bible: that if with all their heart they truly seek God, they will be found and claimed by Him." Lawson describes the spiritual experiences of Old and New Testament characters and Christians from Tertullian to D. L Moody and General Booth and how these experiences transformed their lives. He chooses people from varied walks of life and across all denominations. Although the external circumstances and manifestations are very different, the essential Christian experience described is always the same. It is the baptism, or filling, or gift, of the Holy Spirit. This edition is the unabridged original.

De doctrina Christiana (English: On Christian Doctrine or On Christian Teaching) is a theological text written by Saint Augustine of Hippo. It consists of four books that describe how to interpret and teach the Scriptures. The first three of these books were published in 397 and the fourth added in 426. By writing this text, Saint Augustine set three tasks for Christian teachers and preachers: to discover the truth in the contents of the Scriptures, to teach the truth from the Scriptures, and to defend scriptural truth when it was attacked. One of Saint Augustine's most important contributions to Christian Theology, "On Christian Doctrine" is essential reading for any serious believer interested in learning more about faith in God. The four books of St. Augustin On Christian Doctrine (De Doctrina Christiana, iv libri) are a compend of exegetical theology to guide the reader in the understanding and interpretation of the Sacred Scriptures, according to the analogy of faith. The first three books were written ad 397; the fourth was added 426. It is the first and best patristic work on biblical Hermeneutics, and continued for a thousand years, together with the Prefaces of Jerome, to be the chief exegetical guide. Although it is superseded as a scientific work by modern Hermeneutics and Critical Introductions to the Old and New Testaments, it is not surpassed for originality, depth and spiritual insight.

The Institutes Of The Christian Religion written by John Calvin and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-02 with categories.

All four books of John Calvin's lengthy thesis concerning the theology of Protestantism are presented here unabridged, in the original English translation by Thomas Norton. The Institutes Of The Christian Religion is a landmark text in the history of Protestant Christianity, and is a crucial publication amidst the upheaval of the Reformation of the 16th century. Its influence upon the subsequent founding and organization of the Protestant churches was profound, and the work continues to be referenced by scholars and historians to this day. First published in Latin but soon translated to John Calvin's native French, this book is also responsible for a substantive refinement of Francophone linguistics. Calvin designed his book with the assumption of a basic level of theological knowledge on the part of the reader; namely the tenets of Christianity, the doctrines of the Holy Bible and the central importance of the Lord Jesus Christ. Herein we discover a wide-ranging yet thorough text; readers are given a deep and measured explanation of Protestant doctrine, an identification of the differences which Protestantism has with the Holy Catholic church, the errors identified in Catholicism, and a call to action following the divine calling of Christ and God. Many inspirations may be observed in the manner John Calvin writes this text: the sacramental elements and the observance of the faith emphasized by Martin Luther, and the establishment of the divine will as noted by Martin Bucer are present. Prior to the publication of this work, other, shorter books attempted to explain Protestant theology. None however possessed the thoroughness or scholarly distinction of Calvin's work, which became both popular and vital to the growth of Protestantism as a Christian movement. Where other editions may omit, condense or otherwise abridge the words of John Calvin, this printing does no such thing. Based upon a 1581 reprint of Thomas Norton's original translation first published in 1561, we find here the original version of the English text in its entirety as published during John Calvin's lifetime. An extensive table of contents allows readers to navigate and reference the text, which is organized into the traditional four book format established in the 16th century.

This Omnibus edition of g K Chesterton's writings includes the following complete and unabridged classic books: The Everlasting Man. What makes the human uniquely human? This is the question that G.K. Chesterton starts with in this exploration of human history. Chesterton responds to H.G. Wells, affirming the uniqueness of being human and the message of the Christian faith. Chesterton refutes the idea of Social Darwinism, which claims that we have been gradually evolving from the barbaric to the civilised state we currently find ourselves in. He sees Christianity as a blend of reason and story, which satisfies both the mind and the heart. Orthodoxy. Chesterton explores ""right thinking"" and explains how it led him to come to faith. This is a very personal account of his conversion, but Chesterton makes it clear that for him it was as a result of his scholarly examination of Christianity's arguments. Heretics. Chesterton is at his very witty best in this collection of twenty articles. He focussed his brilliant mind on ""heretics"", prominent figures who Chesterton considers theologically wrong, including Kipling, Shaw, Wells, and Whistler. St Francis of Assisi. Francis of Assisi is without doubt on of the greatest saints, and hugely influential in human history. This biography by G. K. Chesterton is considered to be the greatest tribute to this great man's life and one that fully appreciates what St Francis offered to humanity. St Thomas Aquinas. This Biography of St Thomas Aquinas ranks as one of the best books ever written on the life and thought of this great saint. Aquinas was shy and dubbed ""the Dumb Ox"" by his classmates. Little did they know that he was an unparalleled genius and would revolutionise Christian thought. The Man who was Thursday. This book is included because like much of G. K. Chesterton's fiction, it is full of Christian allegory. This is a true masterpiece, a psychological thriller that weaves its way around seven anarchists who are called by the names of the days of the week. The aim of the book is to expose moral relativism and nihilism for the evil that they are.
