This book is a collection of works related to information contributed by multiple authors dedicated to the memory of Mark Burgin who passed away on February 18, 2023. Mark Burgin had a very wide range of research and philosophical interests which has a reflection in the very broad subject range of the contributions to this book honoring his memory as an outstanding member of the academic community. The book Understanding Information and Its Role as a Tool: In Memory of Mark Burgin has two parts which have self-explanatory titles classifying submissions into two categories. One of them is 'Understanding Information: Theory and Foundations' and the other 'Information Realm: Information as a Tool for Exploring Reality'. The former is intended as an inquiry of the concept of information itself, the latter as an inquiry of the use of the concept of information as a methodological tool for diverse forms of inquiries. The book was originally planned together with Mark Burgin and only after his passing was transformed by its present editors into his memorial. It was intended as a means to promote and disseminate the results of the ongoing research on information stimulated, initiated, or influenced by the 2021 IS4SI Summit. In the present form it goes way beyond its original design to focus on the most recent developments in the fields of information study.

Super Recursive Algorithms written by Mark Burgin and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-12-21 with Mathematics categories.
Super-Recursive Algorithms provides an accessible, focused examination of the theory of super-recursive algorithms and its ramifications for the computer industry, networks, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, and the Internet. The book demonstrates how these algorithms are more appropriate as mathematical models for modern computers, and how these algorithms present a better framework for computing methods in such areas as numerical analysis, array searching, and controlling and monitoring systems. In addition, a new practically-oriented perspective on the theory of algorithms, computation, and automata, as a whole, is developed. Problems of efficiency, software development, parallel and distributed processing, pervasive and emerging computation, computer architecture, machine learning, brain modeling, knowledge discovery, and intelligent systems are addressed. This clear exposition, motivated by numerous examples and illustrations, serves researchers and advanced students interested in theory of computation and algorithms.

The book is a collection of original papers, research and surveys, dedicated to the memory of the Romanian mathematician Solomon Marcus (1925-2016). Marcus published many papers and books in mathematical analysis, theoretical computer science, mathematical linguistics, poetics, theory of literature, semiotics, and several other fields less strongly connected to mathematics, like cultural anthropology, biology, history and philosophy of science, education. He exemplified an unimaginable richness of ideas. This volume intends to emphasize the mathematical fields in which Solomon Marcus worked, and demonstrate — as he also did — the interconnection between them. The authors who contribute to this volume are well-known experts in their fields. Most of them knew Solomon Marcus well, some even owed him for his decisive impulses for their careers and general development. With articles in so diverse areas, the volume will attract readers who would like to diversify their own knowledge or find unexpected connections with other topics.
