The Philosophy Of Nature Vol 2 written by Charles Bucke and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-06-29 with Poetry categories.

Charles Bucke was an English author who published an impressive variety of works covering a vast range of topics during his lifetime, including several on the subject of philosophy. Bucke's book "The Philosophy of Nature: Or the Influence of Scenery on the Mind and Heart" was originally published in two volumes, but later he added a third and a fourth volume to the series as his knowledge and insight around the subject continued to expand. Volume two highlights the heart as a means to explore nature and scenery, "Of all the passions, which derive additional force from scenery, none experiences a greater accession than Love." Bucke then explores how the ancients have described love and how humans express it in the current age. That nature and scenery can inspire love in the human heart is the central theme of Bucke's book. His work utilizes quotes and poetry inspired by nature to emphasize how the human heart responds to the natural world around them. He argues that nature can inspire the heart as much as, if not more so, than a friend or lover. He also argues that love of scenery can engender and foster high regard for public and private liberty, as well as inspiring virtue and a desire to better understand ourselves and the world around us. In short, a love of nature establishes a love of self and a love for the world we live in. "The Philosophy of Nature: Or the Influence of Scenery on the Mind and Heart" is an enchanting look at nature and the human heart. Bucke's argument that connecting with nature grants the individual a stronger and more true connection to the world around them is well articulated and artfully defended. This book is highly recommended for any reader, but especially those espousing an interest in nature, love, or philosophy. The philosophy of the Series is based on the one successfully applied to a previous series published by another publisher, but the move from “biological systems” to “life sciences” will open the aims and scope and allow for the publication of books touching on the interface between chemistry, biology, pharmacology, biochemistry and medicine. Volume 2 focuses on the vibrant research area concerning nickel as well as its complexes and their role in Nature. In 17 stimulating chapters, written by 47 internationally recognized experts, Nickel and Its Surprising Impact in Nature highlights critically the biogeochemistry of nickel, its role in the environment, in plants and cyanobacteria, as well as for the gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori, for gene expression and carcinogenensis. In addition, it covers the complex-forming properties of nickel with amino acids, peptides, phosphates, nucleotides, and nucleic acids. The volume also provides sophisticated insights in the recent progress made in understanding the role of nickel in enzymes such as ureases, hydrogenases, superoxide dismutases, acireductone dioxygenases, acetyl-coenzyme A synthases, carbon monoxide dehydrogenases, methyl-coenzyme M reductases...and it reveals the chaperones of nickel metabolism.

An examination of ideas and ideals of medieval courtly love and the transition into later Romantic love, analyzing the work of Dante, Shakespeare, and Schopenhauer, among many others. Review), "monumental" (Boston Globe), "one of the major works of philosophy in our century" (Nous), "wise and magisterial" (Times Literary Supplement), and a "masterpiece of critical thinking [that] is a timely, eloquent, and scrupulous account of what, after all, still makes the world go round" (Christian Science Monitor). In the second volume, Singer studies the ideas and ideals of medieval courtly love and nineteenth-century Romantic love, as well as the transition between these two perspectives. According to the traditions of courtly love in the twelfth century and thereafter, not only God but also human beings in themselves are capable of authentic love. The pursuit of love between man and woman was seen as a splendid ideal that ennobles both the lover and the beloved. It was something more than libidinal sexuality and involved sophisticated and highly refined courtliness that emulated religious love in its ability to create a holy union between the participants. Adherents to Romantic love in later centuries, affirmed the capacity of love to effect a merging between two people who thus became one. Singer analyzes the transition from courtly to Romantic by reference to the writings of many artists beginning with Dante and ending with Richard Wagner, as well as Neoplatonist philosophers of the Italian Renaissance, Descartes, Spinoza, Rousseau, Hume, Kant, Hegel, and Schopenhauer. In relation to romanticism itself, he distinguishes between two aspects—"benign romanticism" and "Romantic pessimism"—that took on renewed importance in the twentieth century.
