Supporting Operational And Real Time Planning Tasks Of Road Freight Transport With Machine Learning Guiding The Implementation Of Machine Learning Algorithms written by Sandra Lechtenberg and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-26 with categories.

World-wide trends such as globalization, demographic shifts, increased customer demands, and shorter product lifecycles present a significant challenge to the road freight transport industry: meeting the growing road freight transport demand economically while striving for sustainability. Artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, is expected to empower transport planners to incorporate more information and react quicker to the fast-changing decision environment. Hence, using machine learning can lead to more efficient and effective transport planning. However, despite the promising prospects of machine learning in road freight transport planning, both academia and industry struggle to identify and implement suitable use cases to gain a competitive edge. In her dissertation, Sandra Lechtenberg explores how machine learning can enhance decision-making in operational and real-time road freight transport planning. She outlines an implementation guideline, which involves identifying decision tasks in planning processes, assessing their suitability for machine learning, and proposing steps to follow when implementing respective algorithms.

Understanding Language Understanding written by Ashwin Ram and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This book highlights cutting-edge research relevant to the building of a computational model of reading comprehension, as in the processing and understanding of a natural language text or story. The book takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of reading, with contributions from computer science, psychology, and philosophy. Contributors cover the theoretical and psychological foundations of the research in discussions of what it means to understand a text, how one builds a computational model, and related issues in knowledge representation and reasoning. The book also addresses some of the broader issues that a natural language system must deal with, such as reading in context, linguistic novelty, and information extraction.

Machine Learning Methods For Planning written by Steven Minton and has been published by Morgan Kaufmann this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-12 with Social Science categories.

Machine Learning Methods for Planning provides information pertinent to learning methods for planning and scheduling. This book covers a wide variety of learning methods and learning architectures, including analogical, case-based, decision-tree, explanation-based, and reinforcement learning. Organized into 15 chapters, this book begins with an overview of planning and scheduling and describes some representative learning systems that have been developed for these tasks. This text then describes a learning apprentice for calendar management. Other chapters consider the problem of temporal credit assignment and describe tractable classes of problems for which optimal plans can be derived. This book discusses as well how reactive, integrated systems give rise to new requirements and opportunities for machine learning. The final chapter deals with a method for learning problem decompositions, which is based on an idealized model of efficiency for problem-reduction search. This book is a valuable resource for production managers, planners, scientists, and research workers.

The underlying Alpha objective is to make available the soundest criteria based on the author’s experiences as a program management practitioner. Knowledge is imparted ranging from project engineering to program management and from a functional management role to, ultimately, director-level accountability for a mission-critical program as a valued employee of a Managing and Operating contractor for a one-of-its-kind, US taxpayer-owned crude oil storage venture involving underground caverns engineered into massive naturally occurring salt domes located near the border between southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. The overarching Alpha aim is to seed this coursebook - which accentuates the innovativeness and pioneering spirit of the 2020 decade in progress - and make its actionable knowledge available to program practitioners globally to help them deliver better outcomes by applying intelligent approaches that I found most effective.

Cognitive Electronic Warfare An Artificial Intelligence Approach written by Karen Haigh and has been published by Artech House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-31 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This comprehensive book gives an overview of how cognitive systems and artificial intelligence (AI) can be used in electronic warfare (EW). Readers will learn how EW systems respond more quickly and effectively to battlefield conditions where sophisticated radars and spectrum congestion put a high priority on EW systems that can characterize and classify novel waveforms, discern intent, and devise and test countermeasures. Specific techniques are covered for optimizing a cognitive EW system as well as evaluating its ability to learn new information in real time. The book presents AI for electronic support (ES), including characterization, classification, patterns of life, and intent recognition. Optimization techniques, including temporal tradeoffs and distributed optimization challenges are also discussed. The issues concerning real-time in-mission machine learning and suggests some approaches to address this important challenge are presented and described. The book covers electronic battle management, data management, and knowledge sharing. Evaluation approaches, including how to show that a machine learning system can learn how to handle novel environments, are also discussed. Written by experts with first-hand experience in AI-based EW, this is the first book on in-mission real-time learning and optimization.
