"TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 150: NextGen for Airports, Volume I: Understanding the Airport’s Role in Performance-Based Navigation: Resource Guide, the first report in this series, provides comprehensive information to practitioners concerning all aspects of Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) and how implementation affects overall airport operations. This Resource Guide encompasses background information, description of effects on short- and long-term airport development, impacts on safety and performance measures, and other critical factors affecting future airport operations. In addition to providing guidance to users on available resources for additional assistance, this volume also includes lessons learned and best practices based on findings from case studies that examined the airport operator’s role in PBN implementation. The Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) refers to the federal programs (predominately airspace, air traffic, or avionics related) that are designed to modernize the National Airspace System (NAS). ACRP’s NextGen initiative aims to inform airport operators about some of these programs and how the enabling practices, data, and technologies resulting from them will affect airports and change how they operate."--Publisher.

The Principles of Integrated Technology in Avionics Systems describes how integration can improve flight operations, enhance system processing efficiency and equip resource integration. The title provides systematic coverage of avionics system architecture and ground system integration. Looking beyond hardware resource sharing alone, it guides the reader through the benefits and scope of a modern integrated avionics system. Integrated technology enhances the performance of organizations by improving system capacity and boosting efficiency. Avionics systems are the functional center of aircraft systems. System integration technology plays a vital role in the complex world of avionics and an integrated avionics system will fully-address systems, information and processes. - Introduces integration technology in complex avionics systems - Guides the reader through the scope and benefits of avionic system integration - Gives practical guidance on using integration to optimize an avionics system - Describes the basis of avionics system architecture and ground system integration - Presents modern avionics as a system that is becoming increasingly integrated
A Guide To U S Aircraft Noise Regulatory Policy

A Guide To U S Aircraft Noise Regulatory Policy written by Sanford Fidell and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-03 with Science categories.
Aviation noise remains the primary hindrance to expansion of airport and airspace capacity in the United States. This book describes the development and practice of U.S. aircraft noise regulation, as well as the practical consequences of regulatory policy. Starting in the pre-jet transport era, the book traces the development of the modern framework for characterizing, standardizing, predicting, disclosing, and mitigating aircraft noise and its effects on airport-vicinity communities. Among other matters, the book treats noise-related consequences of the 1978 deregulation of the airline industry; prediction and mitigation of community reaction to airport noise; land use compatibility planning; recent research and industry trends; and some suggestions for potential improvements to current policy. Initial chapters describe the assumptions underlying aircraft noise regulation, and lay out the chronology of U.S. aircraft noise regulatory practice. Later chapters provide overviews of population-level effects of aviation noise, including health effects, speech and sleep interference, and annoyance. Readers will learn why predictions of the prevalence of aircraft noise-induced annoyance have systematically underestimated adverse community response to aircraft noise, and how such underestimation has complicated approval and funding of airport and airspace improvement projects. They will also learn why attempts at noise-compatible land use planning are seldom fully successful.
