Kent Ridge written by Kevin Tan and has been published by National University of Singapore Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with College campuses categories.

"Everything you might want to know about Kent Ridge in one book. Kent Ridge, a corner of Singapore island, has been home to the National University of Singapore (NUS) since the 1980s, but the area entered the historical record centuries earlier. From the white sands of its shoreline marked on navigators' maps, to the Alexandra Barracks of the Singapore Mutiny, from tiger traps and plantations to kampong and rich men's seaside bungalows, the rocky ridge running parallel to Singapore's western seashore has formed one of the most memorable of the island city-state's landscapes. Extending from Clementi Road in the west to Alexandra Road in the east, and divided by the "ninety-nine curves" of South Buona Vista Road, Kent Ridge extends its imaginative pull on many Singaporeans and visitors, but especially those who have graduated -or are studying- at the NUS. This book helps you look beneath the shiny exteriors of today's institutions, to the area's geological past, and the wealth of flora and fauna that still can be found here: from indigenous plants such as the tembusu, tiup tiup, and sendudok, to monitor lizards, flying dragons and oriental green snakes. The book guides you through the changing human geography of the region, and tells the inside stories behind the original campus master plan drawn up in the 1970s. Richly illustrated with photos, historical maps and images, each chapter of this book is written by NUS faculty and staff who are passionate about the Ridge"--back cover.

About the Book Have you wondered about the events that happen around us? Do you think about the kind of lives people we come across everyday lead, and how they came to be what they are today? Our life is our story, but what about those little everyday incidents which create the anecdotes filling up the chapters of our life story? 'The Untold Stories' shares tiny anecdotes from people's everyday routines which go on to make remarkable chapters in their life stories. These anecdotes range from incidents around contemporary social issues and events such as terrorism and environmental imbalance to those circling around relationships. About the Author After completing her MBA (as any good child should) and working in Marketing, Manali would jot down her thoughts (the ones about her boss, the traffic, or the solace she found in a piece of Kit-Kat after a long day) Soon, bored by her job, she decided to study the written and spoken word as it gave her the most pleasure! So, she did her MA in English Literature and taught English for a while, sharing her love for language with eager recipients. Still, something tugged at her heart strings. That's when she took the plunge and decided to go into fulltime writing. Currently a freelance writer and a blogger, she is a regular contributor to various national as well as international blogs and webzines and alongside these, even runs her own blog. A published poet with her poetry collection titled A Rustic Mind (available on Amazon Kindle), Manali enjoys spending her free time poring over books and pondering about life, alongside some good music and a cup of hot chocolate. Manali is a wanderlust by heart and travelling is her biggest muse which inspires her to write travel stories. A flamboyant wordsmith who passionately captures candid moments, Manali, on the path to follow her passion, has whipped up colors that have painted the town colourful.

Untold Stories In Organizations written by Michal Izak and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-13 with Business & Economics categories.

The field of organizational storytelling research is productive, vibrant and diverse. Over three decades we have come to understand how organizations are not only full of stories but also how stories are actively making, sustaining and changing organizations. This edited collection contributes to this body of work by paying specific attention to stories that are neglected, edited out, unintentionally omitted or deliberately left silent. Despite the fact that such stories are not voiced they have a role to play in organizational analysis. The chapters in this volume variously explore how certain realities become excluded or silenced. The stories that remain below the audible range in organizations offer researchers an access to study political practices which marginalise certain organisational realities whilst promoting others. This volume offers a further contribution by paying heed to silence and the processes of silencing. These silences influence the choice of issues on organisational agendas, the choice of audience(s) to which these discourses are addressed and the ways of addressing them. In exploring these relatively understudied terrains, Untold Stories in Organizations comprises an important contribution to the organizational storytelling space, opening paths for new trajectories in storytelling research.
