This thesis confronts the Modern Finance Theory with an alternative investment approach: the Value Investing Theory, in order to compare their performances. As studies comparing the performance of the two concepts regarding whole stock market indices and industrial companies are available and research regarding Swiss real estate investment companies is scarce, this thesis focuses on investing in Swiss real estate investment companies. Therefore, this thesis will analyze the companies of the SXI Real Estate Shares Index according to value investment criteria at the date of the launch of the index (01.12.2009) and then a value investing portfolio is created. The performance of this value investing portfolio is then compared with the SXI Real Estate Shares Index performance, both from 01.12.2009 until the termination date of this master thesis (17.01.2016). At the end, this thesis can state which investment theory was more successful regarding investments in Swiss real estate investment companies and provides the base for further implications concerning the two investing theories.

Legendary money manager Peter Lynch explains his own strategies for investing and offers advice for how to pick stocks and mutual funds to assemble a successful investment portfolio. Develop a Winning Investment Strategy—with Expert Advice from “The Nation’s #1 Money Manager.” Peter Lynch’s “invest in what you know” strategy has made him a household name with investors both big and small. An important key to investing, Lynch says, is to remember that stocks are not lottery tickets. There’s a company behind every stock and a reason companies—and their stocks—perform the way they do. In this book, Peter Lynch shows you how you can become an expert in a company and how you can build a profitable investment portfolio, based on your own experience and insights and on straightforward do-it-yourself research. In Beating the Street, Lynch for the first time explains how to devise a mutual fund strategy, shows his step-by-step strategies for picking stock, and describes how the individual investor can improve his or her investment performance to rival that of the experts. There’s no reason the individual investor can’t match wits with the experts, and this book will show you how.

Qatar's sizeable oil and natural gas reserves have underpinned its rapid economic growth over the past two decades. Home to the world's largest non-associated gas field, the country is the world's fourth-largest producer of dry natural gas and the largest producer of liquefied natural gas, with hydrocarbons revenues forming the bulk of national income as a result. Although the drop in global energy prices has impacted export revenues, rigorous economic diversification drives in recent years have paid dividends, and in 2015 non-hydrocarbons growth reached 7.7%, compared to a 0.1% contraction for hydrocarbons growth during the same period. The country's financial sector has continued to evolve; Islamic banking in particular has witnessed significant progress. Meanwhile,

Behavioral Finance And Capital Markets written by A. Szyszka and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-04 with Business & Economics categories.

Behavioral Finance helps investors understand unusual asset prices and empirical observations originating out of capital markets. At its core, this field of study aids investors in navigating complex psychological trappings in market behavior and making smarter investment decisions. Behavioral Finance and Capital Markets reveals the main foundations underpinning neoclassical capital market and asset pricing theory, as filtered through the lens of behavioral finance. Szyszka presents and classifies many of the dynamic arguments being made in the current literature on the topic through the use of a new, ground-breaking methodology termed: the General Behavioral Asset Pricing Model (GBM). GBM describes how asset prices are influenced by various behavioral heuristics and how these prices deviate from fundamental values due to irrational behavior on the part of investors. The connection between psychological factors responsible for irrational behavior and market pricing anomalies is featured extensively throughout the text. Alternative explanations for various theoretical and empirical market puzzles - such as the 2008 U.S. financial crisis - are also discussed in a convincing and interesting manner. The book also provides interesting insights into behavioral aspects of corporate finance.
