Upgrading Relational Databases with Objects presents a clear-headed overview of how to use object-oriented (OO) technology to improve existing relational databases. This practical how-to guide starts with the basics of OO and works its way up to examples and what-if scenarios that illustrate how OO technology is, should be and should not be integrated with relational databases. It draws a keen distinction between applications that can be best performed with each technology. The book describes such object technologies as OLE and CORBA and what their impacts will be on relational database connectivity and provides a brief tutorial on relational and object concepts, it then moves on to advanced object/relational, SQL3, OO database technology and the Internet.

Data warehousing is an important topic that is of interest to both the industry and the knowledge engineering research communities. Both data mining and data warehousing technologies have similar objectives and can potentially benefit from each other’s methods to facilitate knowledge discovery. Improving Knowledge Discovery through the Integration of Data Mining Techniques provides insight concerning the integration of data mining and data warehousing for enhancing the knowledge discovery process. Decision makers, academicians, researchers, advanced-level students, technology developers, and business intelligence professionals will find this book useful in furthering their research exposure to relevant topics in knowledge discovery.

Distributed Object Architectures With Corba written by Henry Balen and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-02-13 with Computers categories.
Distributed Object Architectures with CORBA is a guide to designing software comprised of distributed components. While it is based on OMG's Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) standard, the principles also apply to architecture built with other technology (such as Microsoft's DCOM). As ORB products evolve to incorporate new additions to CORBA, the knowledge and experience required to build stable and scalable systems is not widespread. With this volume the reader can develop the skills and knowledge that are necessary for building such systems. The book assumes a familiarity with object-oriented concepts and the basics of CORBA. Software developers who are new to building systems with CORBA-based technologies will find this a useful guide to effective development.

Logidata Deductive Databases With Complex Objects written by Paolo Atzeni and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-07-29 with Computers categories.
This book presents a collection of coordinated scientific papers describing the work conducted and the results achieved within the LOGIDATA+ project, a research action funded by the Italian national research council CNR. Theaim of the LOGIDATA+ project is the definition of advanced database systems which significantly extend the functionalities of the current systems, with specific reference to the application areas for which relational systemsare not considered satisfactory. These new systems will allow the definitionof data with complex structures, the representation of semantic relationships between objects, and the use of powerful query and update languages. They will be based on a combination of techniques originatingfrom relational databases and logic programming, with contributions from object-oriented programming. The goal of the LOGIDATA+ project is the design, definition, and prototype implementation of a database management system with complex structures and a class hierarchy, to be accessed through a rule-based language. This book presents an integrated view of the project at the end of the first phase. The second phase will be mainly concerned with the implementation of prototypes.

More Process Patterns written by Scott W. Ambler and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-01-13 with Computers categories.
With his new book, More Process Patterns, Scott Ambler picks up where Process Patterns left off. In this book, the author presents process patterns for the second half of the development lifecycle. He covers the Deliver phase and the Maintain and Support phase of large-scale, object-oriented system development. Each presented pattern is based upon proven, real-world techniques and is geared toward medium to large-size organizations who need to develop software internally to support their main line of business. The book covers major management issues, such as people and risk management, and quality assurance. Developers and project managers who have just taken their first OO development course will find this book essential. It takes the true needs of software development and delivery into consideration, including cross-project, maintenance, operations, and support issues. This book uses the Unified Modeling Language (UML).

This volume contains the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Deductive and Object-Oriented Databases. Its central tenet is that the object-oriented and deductive paradigms for modeling, organizing, and processing data complement each other, rather than competing, and that problems involving massive volumes of complex data can best be solved by integrating the best of both approaches. Central questions in the area are: - How do we design a tool that presents the best of the object-oriented and declarative ideas? - How can the users of this tool express their problems in a combination of declarative and procedural features? The volume includes 29 papers that contribute towards answering these questions.
