Le métier d'assistant de régulation médicale (ARM) est un poste crucial du service d'aide médicale urgente (SAMU) : répondant à plus de 30 millions d'appels par an, les ARM sont les premiers interlocuteurs lorsqu'on compose le « 15 ». Ils ont ainsi été en première ligne lors de la récente crise de la Covid-19. Premier maillon de la chaîne des soins d'urgence, les ARM n'avaient jusqu'à récemment pas de diplôme propre et une formation très hétérogène. Un cursus national est, depuis 2019, obligatoire pour exercer cette profession, signant enfin la reconnaissance du métier d'ARM.
