In all enterprises around the world, the issues, opportunities and challenges of aligning IT more closely with the organization and effectively governing an organization s IT investments, resources, major initiatives and superior uninterrupted service is becoming a major concern of the Board and executive management. An integrated and comprehensive approach to the alignment, planning, execution and governance of IT and its resources has become critical to more effectively align, integrate, invest, measure, deploy, service and sustain the strategic and tactical direction and value proposition of IT in support of organizations. Much has been written and documented about the individual components of IT Governance such as strategic planning, demand management, program and project management, IT service management, strategic sourcing and outsourcing, performance management, metrics, compliance and others. Much less has been written about a comprehensive and integrated approach for IT/Business Alignment, Planning, Execution and Governance. This title fills that need in the marketplace and offers readers structured and practical solutions using the best of the best practices available today. The book is divided into two parts, which cover the three critical pillars necessary to develop, execute and sustain a robust and effective IT governance environment:- Leadership, people, organization and strategy,- IT governance, its major component processes and enabling technologies. Each of the chapters also covers one or more of the following action oriented topics:- the why and what of IT: strategic planning, portfolio investment management, decision authority, etc.;- the how of IT: Program/Project Management, IT Service Management (including ITIL); Strategic Sourcing and outsourcing; performance, risk and contingency management (including COBIT, the Balanced Scorecard etc.) and leadership, team management and professional competences.

Micro Irrigation Systems In India written by P K Viswanathan and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-19 with Business & Economics categories.

This book takes stock of micro irrigation systems (MIS), the technological intervention in India’s agricultural and water management sectors, over the past couple of decades. Based on empirical research from the major agriculturally dynamic states, viz., Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the book provides a nuanced understanding and objective assessment of the implementation and adoption of MIS across these states. It addresses several of the questions related to adoption and impacts of MIS in India. On the adoption side, the key question that the book addresses is which segment of the farming community adopts MIS across states? The impacts analysed include those on physical, agronomic and economic aspects. At the macro level, the question being asked is about the future potential of MIS in terms of saving water from agriculture and making more water available for environment. The book also addresses the question of the positive/negative externalities and real social benefits and costs from the use of MIS, a major justification for heavy capital subsidies for its purchase by farmers. It also brings out certain critical concerns pertaining to MIS adoption, which need to be addressed through more empirical research based on longitudinal panel/ cross sectional data. The book would be of great use to researchers (agricultural water management, irrigation economics), students of water resource engineering, irrigation engineering and water resources management, as well as to policy makers and agricultural water management experts – national and international.

Digital learning is enabling new and innovative approaches to learning in different domains. The rapid development of technology makes digital learning ubiquitous and offers more self-directed ways of learning. However, digital learning also comes with disadvantages such as poor learning outcomes that have to be addressed systematically. A promising approach is to put the understanding and scaffolded design of digital learning processes at the center. Andreas Janson presents approaches for scaffolding digital learning processes for the domains of higher education and vocational training. These approaches are based on a holistic understanding of learning processes in digital environments. The empirical evaluations show that learning processes are critical for learning outcomes in digital environments. Finally, the results from field experiments show that the scaffolding of a digital learning process enables for better learning outcomes. The book targets researchers, lecturers, and students in information systems, business administration, and educational technology. The book provides insights for practitioners concerned with the development of education and training.

Ubiquitous information systems (UIS) are proposed to represent a fundamental paradigm shift in information systems research. Despite the advantages of such systems, they also come with disadvantages, such as their increasing automation and opaqueness. When aiming to develop UIS that are readily adopted and used by their intended users, those disadvantages need to be addressed. A promising approach to overcome this challenge is fostering the users‘ trust in UIS. Matthias Söllner presents a method for deriving trust supporting components for UIS, based on existing insights from literature as well as a new theoretical approach on the formation of trust in UIS. The empirical evaluation of the method shows that the trust supporting components increase the users‘ trust as well as their intention to adopt a UIS. The book targets researchers, lecturers and students in information systems, business administration and human computer interaction. It also provides insights for practitioners who develop UIS.

This book develops, evaluates and refines a cloud service relationship theory that explains how cloud users’ uncertainties arise in these relationships and how they can be mitigated. To that end, the book employs principal-agent theory and the concepts of bounded rationality and social embeddedness. Beyond advancing IS research, the findings presented can greatly benefit governments, IT departments and IT providers, helping them to better understand cloud service relationships and to adjust their cloud service strategies accordingly.
