Assessment Of Non Point Source Pollution In The Vadose Zone written by Dennis L. Corwin and has been published by American Geophysical Union this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-01-26 with Science categories.

Published by the American Geophysical Union as part of the Geophysical Monograph Series, Volume 108. Non-point source (NPS) pollution in the vadose zone (simply defined as the layer of soil extending from the soil surface to the groundwater table) is a global environmental problem. Characteristically, NPS pollutants are widespread and occasionally ubiquitous in extent, thus making remediation efforts difficult and complex; have the potential for maintaining a relatively long active presence in the global ecosystem; and may result in long?]term, chronic health effects in humans and other life forms. Similar to other global environmental issues, the knowledge and information required to address the problem of NPS pollutants in the vadose zone cross several technological and subdisciplinary lines: spatial statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), hydrology, soil science, and remote sensing. Cooperation between disciplines and scientific societies is essential to address the problem. Evidence of such cooperation was the jointly sponsored American Geophysical Union Chapman/Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) Outreach Conference that occurred in October 1997, entitled “Applications of GIS, Remote Sensing, Geostatistics, and Solute Transport Modeling to the Assessment of Non-Point Source Pollution in the Vadose Zone.” The objective of the conference and this book, which was developed from the conference, was to explore current multidisciplinary research for assessing NPS pollution in soil and groundwater resources.

Modeling Chemical Transport In Soils written by Hossein Ghadiri and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-09-23 with Science categories.

Modeling Chemical Transport in Soils: Natural and Applied Contaminants provides a comprehensive discussion of mathematical models used to anticipate and predict the consequences and fate of natural and applied chemicals. The book evaluates the strengths, weaknesses, and possibilities for application of numerous models used throughout the world. It examines the theoretical support and need for experimental calibration for each model. The book also reviews world literature to discuss such topics as the movement of sorbed chemicals by soil erosion, the movement of reactive and nonreactive chemicals in the subsurface and groundwater, and salt transport in the landscape. Modeling Chemical Transport in Soils: Natural and Applied Contaminants is an important volume for environmental scientists, agricultural engineers, regulatory personnel, farm managers, consultants, and the chemical industry.

Mobility And Degradation Of Organic Contaminants In Subsurface Environments written by Warren J. Lyman and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book identifies the most important "rules" governing transport, partitioning, retention and transformation of leaked motor fuels in the underground environment. It examines micro-scale fate and transport processes as a means toward promoting a better understanding of larger scale movement of contaminants. Environmental scientists, engineers, consultants, and managers will find Mobility and Degradation of Organic Contaminants in Subsurface Environments to be a useful technical handbook. Less experienced users will appreciate its in-depth explanations of the fate and transport processes vital to effective remedial response. More experienced users will use the book as a source of information, data and equations to support quantitative assessments of pollutant fate and transport.
