In the rising momentum for new and reformulated cultural identities, the Turkish Alevi have also emerged on the scene, demanding due recognition. In this process a number of dramatic events have served as important milestones: the clashes between Sunni and Alevi in Kahramanmaras in 1979 and Corum in 1980, the incendiarism in Sivas in 1992, and the riots in Istanbul (Gaziosmanpasa) in 1995. Less evocative, but in the long run more significant, has been the rising interest in Alevi folklore and religious practices. أثرت الدولة العثمانية في تاريخ حركة المسلمين تأثيرًا كبيرًا لا يُمكن إنكاره، وقد لعبت المدرسة العثمانية دورًا بارزًا في تأسيس الدولة حضاريًا، حيث تجلى من خلالها البعد الحضاري للسلاطين والولاة، ونجحت في مد الدولة – منذ فترة النشأة وحتى السلطان «القانوني» – بما تحتاجه من علماء وقضاة وموظفين كان لهم أكبر الأثر في تسيير أمور الدولة وإحكام سيطرتها على مساحات شاسعة من العالم، فارتبطت الحياة العلمية والإدارية في الدولة العثمانية بالمدرسة اتباطًا وثيقًا، بحيث لم يكن يُسمح لغير خريجي المدرسة بتولي الوظائف العلمية والعدلية في الدولة. يقدم هذا الكتاب – الذي هو رسالة دكتوراه في الأصل – دراسة واعية بعيدة عن كل التحيزات؛ لتاريخ المدارس العثمانية، ونظمها الإدارية والعلمية، وتأثيراتها، وعوامل نهوضها، وأسباب انحدارها، لمعرفة إلى أي مدى كان للتعليم دور في تلك الفترة، وهل كان منفتحًا على الحضارات والثقافات المختلفة أم مقتصرًا على الكتب التراثية والتعليم الديني فقط. ويشتمل الكتاب على ثلاثة أبواب، يتناول الباب الأول “المدرسة العثمانية منذ نشأة الدولة وحتى نهاية عهد الفاتح”، حيث اقتصرت نشأة المدرسة العثمانية آنذاك على التعليم الديني فقط، ثم تطور الأمر سريعًا إذ أنشأ العثمانيون بين عامي 732 – 855هـ اثنتين وثمانين مدرسة، ولم يقتصر إنشاء المدارس حتى عهد السلطان الفاتح على العواصم والمدن الكبيرة مثل إزنيق وبورصة وأدرنة، بل أنشئ عدد من المدارس في المدن العثمانية الأخرى، وقد اعتُبِرت مدة تولي السلطان الفاتح أمور الدولة فترةَ ازدهار، وتقدمًا ملموسًا للحركة العلمية والتعليمية في الدولة. فيما تناول الباب الثاني “المدرسة العثمانية من وفاة السلطان الفاتح وحتى نهاية عصر السلطان القانوني”، فأشار الباب إلى المدارس التي بناها السلطان بايزيد، إضافة إلى إنشاء عدة مدارس أخرى على يد كبار رجال الدولة. وجدير بالذكر أن المدرسة قد لعبت دورًا هامًا في عهد السلطان سليم الأول في التصدي للخطر الشيعي، وحمل العلماء والمدرسون ألقابًا تدلل على مدى الاحترام البالغ الذي نالوه في عهد السلطان القانوني، مثل: “الحبر الفاضل المتدين، صاحب الحكمة الباهرة، مفتاح كنوز الحقائق، كشّاف رموز الدقايق، النقي التقي، العالم العامل، الزكي الذكي”. إلا أن الربع الأخير للقرن السادس عشر قد شكل نقطة البداية في هبوط المدرسة السريع من ناحية الكم والكيف؛ وذلك نتيجة الاجتراء على القوانين القديمة التي كان معمولًا بها حتى عهد القانوني، وعدم مراعاتها الرعاية المطلوبة، كما أسهمت التغيرات الاقتصادية التي ألمت بالدولة العثمانية، في التأثير بالسلب على الحياة العلمية في الدولة، وقد تمثل ذلك “في التعجيل بتخريج الطلاب من المدارس العثمانية المختلفة؛ مما سبب ضعفًا في المستوى العلمي، ومن ثم أدى إلى تأخر النظام التعليمي في المدارس. أما الباب الثالث والأخير فيتعلق بـ “الدور الحضاري للمدرسة العثمانية”، حيث تناول أماكن التدريس للطلاب التي لم تقتصر في المجتمع العثماني على المدارس والمؤسسات الرسمية فقط؛ بل كانت هناك مراكز تعليمية وثقافية أخرى أيضًا، تمثلت بوجه عام في المساجد، والتكايا، والمكتبات، وفي دور الأثرياء والعلماء. ويؤكد المؤلف أن المدرسة العثمانية خاصة، والحياة الفكرية والعلمية عامة قد عجزت عن استشراف نهضة تتناسب ومستوى الازدهار الذي حققه العثمانيون أنفسهم في المجالات الأخرى، حيث كان يغلب عليها التقليد وعدم الابتكار، واكتفوا بشرح وتحشية الكتب الإسلامية القديمة؛ مما أصاب العلم في الدولة بالتخلف والتأخر. ويختتم المؤلف كتابه ببيان دور الأوقاف في الدولة العثمانية؛ حيث لعبت دورًا بارزًا في إعطاء المدرسة دفعة قوية، وشكلت أحد المصادر الأساسية للتمويل المادي اللازم والداعم للعملية التعليمية؛ مما جعل التعليم مجانيًّا في المدارس العثمانية.
