Use a master’s lost secret to pick growth companies bound for success In 1948, legendary Columbia University professor Benjamin Graham bought a major stake in the Government Employees Insurance Corporation. In a time when no one trusted the stock market, he championed value investing and helped introduce the world to intrinsic value. He had a powerful valuation formula. Now, in this groundbreaking book, long-term investing expert Fred Martin shows you how to use value-investing principles to analyze and pick winning growth-stock companies—just like Graham did when he acquired GEICO. Benjamin Graham and the Power of Growth Stocks is an advanced, hands-on guide for investors and executives who want to find the best growth stocks, develop a solid portfolio strategy, and execute trades for maximum profitability and limited risk. Through conversational explanations, real-world case studies, and pragmatic formulas, it shows you step-by-step how this enlightened trading philosophy is successful. The secret lies in Graham’s valuation formula, which has been out of print since 1962—until now. By calculating the proper data, you can gain clarity of focus on an investment by putting on blinders to variables that are alluring but irrelevant. This one-stop guide to growing wealth shows you how to: Liberate your money from the needs of mutual funds and brokers Build a reasonable seven-year forecast for every company considered for your portfolio Estimate a company’s future value in four easy steps Ensure long-term profits with an unblinking buy-and-hold strategy This complete guide shows you why Graham’s game-changing formula works and how to use it to build a profitable portfolio. Additionally, you learn tips and proven techniques for unlocking the formula’s full potential with disciplined research and emotional control to stick by your decisions through long periods of inactive trading. But even if your trading approach includes profiting from short-term volatility, you can still benefit from the valuation formula and process inside by using them to gain an advantageous perspective on stock prices. Find the companies that will grow you a fortune with Benjamin Graham and the Power of Growth Stocks.

Growth Investing is the most profitable investing strategy with a long track record of incredible returns. The financial press all agree: - "Investors holding U.S. value stocks ... have produced an annualized compound return of 12.9 percent (since 2010). That compares with a 16.3 percent annualized return for growth stocks." Institutional Investor (October 2019) - "Since May 1995 value stocks have returned 624%, while growth has gained 1,072%" Money.com (July 2020) -"Growth stocks have handily outperformed value stocks since December 2006." (USA Today, May 2020) - "Over the past decade, as a whole, value stocks have not performed as well as growth stocks" (MorningStar 2019). - "Growth stocks are the financial market's land of opportunity -- stocks that show the potential for abundant share price growth over the long haul but sell for relatively cheap right now (TheStreet, 2020). However, Growth Investing is also the hardest investing strategy for the average investor to understand and gather information. Many investing sources only advice growth investors to use 1) a growth mutual fund or 2) a stock screener to find companies with historical growth in earnings per share (EPS) and sales. However, a growth mutual fund includes fees that investors will want to avoid. And screening for a company's historical growth is not the best the selection tool for future growth. What these investing sources are not saying that the pros know is the essential step on which fund managers spend millions of dollars, hire a large staff of analysts, and devote hours interviewing CEOs to scrutinize - which new industries will have the highest growth in the next few years and what are the major players in those industries. Industry analyst research companies, like Barnes Reports, are where the leading investment banks and mutual funds purchase their industry analysis reports on the rapidly expanding industries. Now the individual investor has access to the same growth statistics on the most advanced technology industries on which the pros spend millions with "The Guide to Growth Investing." Some of the 100 niche industries featured in the 2020 edition include: - Drone Analytics Market - Automated 3D Printing Market - Medical Exoskeleton Market - Botnet Detection Market Featuring over 300 companies in the fastest-growing technology industries, the Guide is the one-stop resource for the essential data to invest in the companies of tomorrow. The Guide is useful for investors no matter the level of expertise - from beginner to expert. The Guide also explains 1) the advantages of Growth Investing over other strategies, 2) how you can beat Growth ETFs and mutual funds returns, and 3) the steps to build a protected retirement plan with Growth Investing. The Guide to Growth Investing shows you how to make Growth Investing work for you and help you achieve your financial goals.

A great deal of academic empirical research has been published on value and growth investing. We review and update this literature, discuss the various explanations for the performance of value versus growth stocks, review the empirical research on the alternative explanations, and provide some new results based on an updated and expanded sample. The evidence suggests that, even after taking into account the experience of the late 1990s, value investing generates superior returns. Common measures of risk do not support the argument that the return differential is a result of the higher riskiness of value stocks. Instead, behavioral considerations and the agency costs of delegated investment management lie at the root of the value-growth spread.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,00, EBS European Business School gGmbH, language: English, abstract: Portfolio managers face the challenge to achieve excess returns comparative to a benchmark for their private or institutional clients. Researchers such as Fama and French (1992, 1996) or Lakonishok, Shleifer, and Vishny (1994) caused a stir with their findings that various investment styles tend to accomplish superior returns over a long-term horizon. Their findings proposed that value stocks tend to outperform growth stocks. This bachelor thesis raises the question whether value or growth fund managers are able to achieve a persistent outperformance relative to their internal and external benchmark. The findings have a crucial influence on investors considering an investment into the equity market by an active or passive portfolio management approach.

Based on a 'free of survivorship-bias' sample of German stocks listed at the Frankfurt stock exchange, the study investigates the ability of hedge portfolio formation structures, built of three value premium proxies (P/B, P/E, and DY), the size factor, and the technical momentum factor, to generate excess returns in the period 1992 to 2011. First, the author characterizes and defines the significant terms that are in connection with value and growth investing. He continues with the discussion of asset pricing with the CAPM, the Fama and French three-factor model, and the Carhart extension, and then describes the expected stock returns that are of capital importance. Moreover, the author deals with related studies for the German stock market. He gives a detailed description of the empirical analysis before he draws his conclusions. The author's purpose is to answer the following core questions: Is there a value premium in the German market between 1992 and 2011? Is there a reversed size premium like recent empirical findings suggest? Do high momentum stocks perform better than low momentum stocks? Is there a significant seasonal pattern in hedge portfolio returns? The combination of which factors best explains expected stock returns?

A unique guide that combines the best of traditional value theory with an innovative approach to assessing value in low or non-dividend paying stocks In the 1990s, America's focus on productivity and innovation led to huge gains in technology, communication, and healthcare stocks, and contributed to the transformation of the U.S. stock market from a value (dividend-paying orientation) to a growth (nondividend-paying) bias. During this time, forward thinking value managers began to develop analytical tools for valuing nondividend paying stocks. These tools allowed them to evaluate and identify the best investments in both traditional and nontraditional value sectors. At the forefront of this movement was author Nancy Tengler who, along with Noel DeDora, developed "Relative Value Discipline," an approach-which combines two proven methods for valuing growth stocks: Relative Dividend Yield and Relative-to-Price Sales. The combination of these approaches allows individuals to invest across the investment universe regardless of dividend policies. New Era Value Investing introduces the proven method known as Relative Value Discipline by combining the excitement of developing a new investment discipline with the lessons learned through the application of this new methodology in the real world. In addition to providing an insider's look at an investment manager's experience in adopting a new investment approach, this book creates a context for understanding the transformation of the U.S. economy, and offers expert insights beyond those of traditional value theory. Nancy Tengler (San Francisco, CA) is President and Chief Investment Officer of Fremont Investment Advisors. She is coauthor of Relative Dividend Yield: Common Stock Investing for Income and Appreciation (Wiley: 0-471-53652-0). She has appeared on numerous financial radio and television programs, including CNN/fn and is frequently quoted in financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal.
