Along the coasts of the North Atlantic there are legends of a lost land over the sea - a land of magic, of immortality, and of plenty. Plato described such a land, naming it Atlantis. In his descriptions, the Atlanteans were doomed by their falling into decadence, and their opposition to the spirits of nature. An epic fantasy rooted in the mythology of the lost land, "The Fall of the Sea People" tells of these twin errors, and of how they brought about the destruction of a Neolithic civilization that ruled the world. "Venus and the Sea People" is the first volume of this story.

• Shows how the archetypal symbols of the Pohnpaid petroglyphs have exact counterparts in other ancient cultures throughout the world • Provides evidence that Pohnpaid is closely related to--yet predates--neighboring Nan Madol • Includes hundreds of Pohnpaid petroglyphs and stone circle photos, many never before seen While residing on the small Pacific island of Pohnpei in the 1990s, Carole Nervig discovered that a recent brush fire had exposed hundreds of previously unknown petroglyphs carved on gigantic boulders. This portion of the megalithic site called Pohnpaid was unknown even to Pohnpei’s state historic preservation officer. The petroglyphs were unlike others from Oceania, so Nervig began investigating and comparing them with petroglyphs and symbols from around the world. In this fully illustrated exploration, Nervig documents her discoveries on Pohnpei, revealing how the archetypal symbols of the Pohnpaid petroglyphs have exact counterparts in other ancient cultures and universal motifs throughout the world, including the Australian Aborigines, the Inca in Peru, the Vedic civilization of India, early Norse runes, and Japanese symbols. She provides evidence that Pohnpaid is closely related to--yet predates--neighboring Nan Madol and shows how Pohnpaid was an outpost of the sunken Kahnihmueiso, a city of the now-vanished civilization of Mu, or Lemuria. Discussing the archaeoastronomical function of the Pohnpaid stones, the author examines how many of the glyphs symbolize celestial phenomena and clearly reveal how their creators were sky watchers with a sophisticated understanding of astronomy, geophysics, geomancy, and engineering. She shows how the scientific concepts depicted in the petroglyphs reveal how the citizens of Mu had a much deeper understanding of the living Earth than we do, which gave them the ability to manipulate natural forces both physically and energetically. Combining archaeological evidence with traditional oral accounts, Nervig reveals Pohnpaid not only as a part of a geodetic network of ancient sacred sites and portals but also as a remnant of the now submerged but once enlightened Motherland of Mu.

The archaeological record demonstrates worldwide cultural diffusion that dates long before the chronological record supposes. Is the chronological record wrong? Does the archaeological record consist of forgeries? Cultural diffusion occurred in the ancient past where the required skillsets and resources were only available to a few nations. Hardly anyone who broaches this subject mentions the nation most likely responsible for it: Etruria. The early history of Rome and Greece is too legendary to be factual. For those interested in rectifying history in Europe, North Africa, and the Near East, read The Real Universal Empire.

Living in the Roman world of the fourth century could be very challenging. It was a time of change and danger. Barbarians were attacking the empire from all directions. At sea, no ship was safe from pirates. From the east, the Sasanian Empire from Persia was once more challenging the power of Rome. Even religion was changing. The new Christian religion was spreading throughout the empire. But which Christian beliefs were to be accepted? Constantine settled the problem by calling the Council of Nicaea. His mother, Helena, would contribute much to the new religion. The story is told by a large cast of characters that represent people from different backgrounds: soldiers, slaves, religious people, and beautiful women. The main character is Julia, the daughter of a retired Roman soldier whose estate in the south of Gaul produced grapes and olive oil. As a young girl, she got the Strike of Venus when playing the game of talus bones. This assured her of a charmed life. Then one day, she, her father, and her slave left by ship with wine for Constantines new city in the east. She met a handsome young officer of the Imperial Navy who was to protect her from pirates. Other characters include Antaios from Alexandria, who tried being a monk in upper Egypt; Meirit, a beautiful Jewish woman who would steal his heart; Belisar the Manichaen, who fought the Sasanians; and Puglius, the slave who would steal from his mistress, murder his family, and then become a Christian. Also included is how Helena found the tabulum, which was affixed to the cross of Jesus, and what she did with it. This and many more fascinating stories are included in the book.

Marc Vitrac was born in Louisiana in the early 1960's, about the time the first interplanetary probes delivered the news that Mars and Venus were teeming with life—even human life. At that point, the "Space Race" became the central preoccupation of the great powers of the world. Now, in 1988, Marc has been assigned to Jamestown, the US-Commonwealth base on Venus, near the great Venusian city of Kartahown. Set in a countryside swarming with sabertooths and dinosaurs, Jamestown is home to a small band of American and allied scientist-adventurers. But there are flies in this ointment – and not only the Venusian dragonflies, with their yard-wide wings. The biologists studying Venus's life are puzzled by the way it not only resembles that on Earth, but is virtually identical to it. The EastBloc has its own base at Cosmograd, in the highlands to the south, and relations are frosty. And attractive young geologist Cynthia Whitlock seems impervious to Marc's Cajun charm. Meanwhile, at the western end of the continent, Teesa of the Cloud Mountain People leads her tribe in a conflict with the Neanderthal-like beastmen who have seized her folk's sacred caves. Then an EastBloc shuttle crashes nearby, and the beastmen acquire new knowledge... and AK47's. Jamestown sends its long-range blimp to rescue the downed EastBloc cosmonauts, little suspecting that the answer to the jungle planet's mysteries may lie there, among tribal conflicts and traces of a power that made Earth's vaunted science seem as primitive as the tribesfolk's blowguns. As if that weren't enough, there's an enemy agent on board the airship... Extravagant and effervescent, The Sky People is alternate-history SF adventure at its best. A cultural history of the goddess of love, from a New York Times bestselling and award-winning historian. Aphrodite was said to have been born from the sea, rising out of a froth of white foam. But long before the Ancient Greeks conceived of this voluptuous blonde, she existed as an early spirit of fertility on the shores of Cyprus -- and thousands of years before that, as a ferocious warrior-goddess in the Middle East. Proving that this fabled figure is so much more than an avatar of commercialized romance, historian Bettany Hughes reveals the remarkable lifestory of one of antiquity's most potent myths. Venus and Aphrodite brings together ancient art, mythology, and archaeological revelations to tell the story of human desire. From Mesopotamia to modern-day London, from Botticelli to Beyoncé, Hughes explains why this immortal goddess continues to entrance us today -- and how we trivialize her power at our peril.
